REMINDER: Teacher Recognition Award applications are due March 1!
Local Association Presidents please choose nominees for the three prestigious TMTA teacher awards. All materials are due by March 1st.
TMTA Teacher of the Year is awarded for the highest service to and representation of MTNA, TMTA, and the music teaching profession in addition to an excellent record in the teaching profession.
TMTA Award for Outstanding Pre-College Teaching Achievement is awarded for outstanding success in teaching at the pre-college level in music performance, composition, theory, history, or any combination.
TMTA Award for Outstanding College Teaching Achievement is awarded for outstanding success in teaching at the collegiate level in music performance, composition, theory, history, or any combination.
It is important to remember that all nominees must be a teaching member of both MTNA and TMTA, and that only TMTA members who have NOT previously received any of the three awards may be nominated.
- To nominate teachers, presidents should log in to the TMTA.org website and click on GRANTS/AWARDS; then scroll to “TMTA Teacher Awards.”
- Click on “TMTA Teacher Award Nomination Form.” Enter the NAME of the nominee exactly AS IT SHOULD APPEAR ON THE PLAQUE (if a winner; e.g. NCTM, DMA, or other preferred title such as Dr., etc.)
- Complete the form with all supporting information (plus nominee’s required uploaded document). Presidents are also encouraged to make their own comments in the space provided.
- Click on “Past Winners” to make sure your nominee has not previously won one of the awards!
Winners will be announced in June.
