2021 Summer Virtual Events
Richard Fountain, NCTM, President-Elect
As we get closer to June (it’ll be here before you know it!) we’d like to share a few more details about our “un-Convention” from June 18-20. I’m so excited that the various chairs responsible for these events have stepped up and expressed their willingness to showcase the work and ideas of the many talented people around TMTA.
On Friday, June 18, we will have a “virtual TMTA collegiate conference”! You’ll be able to experience both live and pre-recorded material, including sessions, lightning talks, poster sessions, and panel discussions. For the college faculty among us, the College Faculty Forum will also be held this day. Specific times and session information is coming soon!
We’ll also have a time set aside by the Independent Music Teachers Forum to share ideas, discuss strategies going forward, and just to catch up with each other after this crazy year. Most likely this will occur on Saturday, June 19, but once again stay tuned for more specific time information as the event chairs finalize their plans.
Finally, on Sunday, June 20, we want to invite ALL of you to join us for a “general session” where we’ll hear reports from some of the TMTA officers, have a virtual “Delegate Assembly” time to share questions, comments, and concerns emerging from the pandemic year, and see virtual New Faculty and Commissioned Composer performances. This session will begin at 3pm, much like it would have done at a normal in-person Convention.
We will be contacting local association presidents very shortly to name their delegates. Since we don’t have to worry about travel, we hope that every association will be represented at the Assembly! Watch your email for more information soon.
Stay tuned! Can’t wait to see everyone online…I so wish we could be with each other in person, but that will just make the 2022 Convention that much more enjoyable.
