Tennessee 2023 Election Results:
Tennessee Legislature Special Elections and Nashville Mayoral Race
On Thursday, Tennessee voters in four legislative districts went to the polls to elect state representatives and primary nominee for state offices, and Nashville voters went to the polls to elect a new mayor of Nashville. View unofficial results of special elections in Tennessee House of Representatives Districts 3, 51, 52, and 86 here. View the unofficial results of the Nashville Mayoral race here.
Tennessee House of Representatives: Special Elections
The Tennessee House has four special elections this year, three general and one primary election.
House District 3 in northeast Tennessee was won by Republican Timothy Hill who received almost 75% of the vote against Democrat Lori Love. Hill returns to the Legislature after serving from 2012 to 2020 after he vacated the seat to run for United States House of Representatives district 1. Hill will fill the remainder of former Rep. Scotty Campbell’s term as representative after he resigned earlier this year. The primary results for Nashville’s House District 51 resulted in David Hooven securing the Republican nomination and Democrat Aftyn Behn beat Anthony Davis to secure the democratic nomination. A number of business leaders openly supported Davis who owns a business in the District. Both Representatives Justin Jones (House District 52) and Justin Pearson (House District 86) won their reelection campaigns after being expelled last April.
Nashville Mayoral Election: Headed to a Runoff
With a crowded field Councilman Freddie O'Connell and Alice Rolli bested approximately 10 others and will compete on September 14 in a runoff election to determine who will become Nashville's next mayor. O’Connell finished first with 27% of the vote followed by Rolli with 20%. Matt Wiltshire, formerly an economic development official in Nashville, finished third with 17% of the ballots, while state Senators Jeff Yarbro and Heidi Campbell followed with 12% and 8% of the vote, respectively. News coverage noted that O’Connell ran on a strong progressive platform and Rolli was successful focusing on more moderate to conservative voters in the County.

Record Keeping (8:30am-12:00pm)
Many people are not sure how to complete the OSHA 300 forms correctly. Accurate records are important for many reasons and TOSHA expects employers to comply with the rules for keeping records that truly reflect workplace injuries and illnesses that occur in Tennessee. At this seminar, the student will get the information needed to record cases correctly, and will learn when cases should not be recorded. Correctly recorded data should also be used effectively in your facility to help maintain a safe and healthy workplace. This seminar provides practical hands-on training and information on the recordkeeping system and the OSHA 300 log. The seminar will also define the requirements for electronically reporting injury and illness data. Employers can now electronically report their Form 300A data to OSHA. This seminar is a basic level and is intended for anyone with recordkeeping responsibilities.
Maintenance Related (8:30am-4:30pm)
This workshop is designed specifically for maintenance personnel responsible for correcting non-compliance areas and for maintaining machines and equipment in a manner that will guarantee continuous compliance. This workshop will help maintenance people achieve the results that are necessary to insure continuous compliance. Of course, anyone who has any TOSHA compliance responsibility can benefit from this.
Forklift (8:30am-4:30pm)
This full day class will cover the hazards and injuries likely to occur in warehousing and storage operations, including encounters with powered industrial trucks, material handling, lifting, hazard communication, walking and working surfaces, and life safety including fire protection and evacuation. This course is intended for warehouse workers, supervisors, and employers responsible for developing safe work practices and procedures in a warehouse setting.
Basic Safety & Health (8:30am-4:30pm)
This in-person training is designed for safety and health professionals or safety committee members who oversee or participate in the maintenance or implementation of the company’s Safety and Health Program. At the conclusion of this course, students will be able to identify and correct the most often cited violations, provide for safe exit from buildings in case of emergency, protect workers from hazardous machinery, protect workers against the hazards of unexpected start-up of machinery and equipment, select and use appropriate personal protective, gain knowledge of the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) Hazard Communication standard, better understand the Respiratory Protection Standard.
