7,022 Bills Filed in Austin, a Several-Hour Read

TOA typically dedicates these "issue focus" e-mails to a brief look at one particular issue. However, the Texas Legislature hit the all-important 60th day of the Texas Legislature on Friday, which also marks the bill filing deadline for 2021.

Once Friday ended, the House and Senate filed a total of 7,022 bills.

Some bills are of great importance to our patients. For example, some bills would reform health plans' unnecessary prior authorization hurdles.

Meanwhile, many bills are "solutions in search of problems." Many of the filed bills will cause more harm than good, and it's time to go to work to defeat those bills.
