The program will include brief remarks, a musical performance by the J.H.S. 52 band, as well as an exhibition fair with tables from supporting participants and sponsors, including the Mayor's Office of the Chief Technology Officer (MOCTO) that recently announced the NYCx Co-Lab tech engagement program in Inwood.
The event counts with the support of Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez, School District 6, CUNY City College and various private and academic sponsors, including Con Edison, Control Electro-Polishing Corporation, Google, LEGO, NY Port Authority, ATAX, Santis Web, DURO UAS, NOAA CREST Research Center, Anyworld Virtual Reality Corp, Zahn Innovation Center, TEQ, and NYU.
The purpose of the Tech Fair is to expose middle school, high school and college students from underserved communities to the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math education and STEM career opportunities through interactive exhibitions conducted by professionals in various fields. The event also aims to change their perspective on STEM fields before they decide on a college major or pursue a career.
Throughout the day, participants will be able to apply STEM to everyday life and participate in real-world problem solving. The result will be young minds that are more open to pursuing majors that result in STEM careers and boost the STEM workforce with passionate, enthusiastic new personnel.
