I am an Adjunct Professor in the TOM Department. I am also a Senior Subject Expert Analytics at Southern California Edison, and University of California, Riverside Extension Transformative Leadership Advisory Board Member. I also conduct independent and tangential research in Complex Systems and Chaos Theory, Machine Learning and AI, Partial Differential Equations, String Theory AdS/CFT, Cloaking Metamaterials, and Cryptography

Dr. Shuo Zeng
Our research examines the role of information disclosure in influencing consumers’ purchase behavior on Airbnb, the room sharing platform. To measure consumer demand for an Airbnb room, we use the number of reviews for the room as a proxy.

Representatives from PepsiCo discussed effective resume writing and tips to make resumes stand out. Highlighted advice is to cater our resume to the job description and this can be done by pulling keywords and implementing them into our resumes.

CSCMP gave a short presentation to the students and informed students about the goals & plans for the students this semester.

Students got to meet PepsiCo recruiters and employees and learned some interview skills. The PepsiCo team gave a presentation on interview skills, followed by an opportunity to speak and ask questions individually with the recruiters.

Workshop Series:
Monte Carlo Simulation with Excel
Part 1 & 2
Dr. Yazdani taught students how to perform the Monte Carlo simulation in Excel, an analytical model to analyze risk through a repeated random sampling method. Days 1 and 2 went very well with good student engagement, and day 3 will be on 9/30.
