How did you approach creating the Pandrogeny shows that are opening in Los Angeles?
"You know what sprung to my mind as you asked that? Evidence. To me, art has always been about evidence. Evidence of the lives of the people who are inspired by that divine spark that is so rare, especially in the contemporary art world."

Scotty Bowers, 'Male Madam' to Classic Hollywood Stars, Dead at 96
1st July 1923 - 13th October 2019
Hollywood sexual "fixer" Scotty Bowers has died at the age of 96.
Scotty visited TOM House, and we always enjoyed how he would stir a drink...
Quite a figure. We will certainly miss his brand of sparkle.

"It was so important to provide Tom the dignity of being in his own home, to be on his own schedule so he could choose, with a sense of self-determination, control over his own death.
"Though Tom was in a hospital bed, rather than his own bed as he had intended, he ultimately succeeded in his design. May we learn from this and permit those who choose to navigate their own vessel into the sea, to do so with respect."
- Durk Dehner

Revisiting Tom of Finland's sexually explicit oeuvre
|
TOM OF FINLAND (Touko Laaksonen, Finnish, 1920 - 1991), Untitled, 1976, Gouache on paper, 15.75" x 20.89", © 1976-2019 Tom of Finland Foundation |
"Tom of Finland's style was influential, evident in David Hockney's swimming-pool paintings, Jean Paul Gaultier's fashion designs and the films of Derek Jarman. Since his death in 1991, Tom of Finland's pop-culture legacy has only increased.
Tom of Finland, a biographical film, was released in 2017, and the Finnish postal service celebrated his work with a racy set of stamps. Next year, events around the world will mark the centenary of his birth."
