Dear Friends and Allies,

The climate crisis is escalating and so are we!

Join us tomorrow, February 5,  for the Women's Earth and Climate Action Network's International Network Wide Call.  This call is an opportunity to hear reports and updates from the WECAN team and to connect with our worldwide network as we collectively engage and support an expanding global women's climate justice movement.

During the call we look forward to sharing with you reports from the field, alongside some of WECAN's plans and vision for 2020. We will provide a brief report back of the COP25 climate negotiations, receive updates from WECAN's 'Women for Forests' regional coordinators, share how you can participate in the growing divestment movement and coalition for a Feminist Agenda for a Green New deal, and introduce WECAN's Regional Action Exchange --  a new initiative to ignite and connect women to act regionally and connect globally.

Stop the Money Pipeline Launch Webinar

On February 9 at 5:00pm PST/8:00pm EST please join us for the launch webinar for the Stop the Money Pipeline coalition's call for a US National Day of Action during the 3 days of deep strikes and actions during earth week April 2020.  RSVP here to attend!

On Friday, January 10, a coalition of over a dozen groups, including WECAN International, launched a major new mobilization, Stop the Money Pipeline, targeting the financial sector's funding of climate chaos. Our goal is to stop the funding of climate destruction. That means banks, insurance companies, and investors need to stop funding, insuring and investing in fossil fuels and deforestation and start respecting human rights and Indigenous sovereignty. Watch the video down below for more information on the action and the Stop the Money Pipeline campaign.

Chase Bank Sit-In With Jane Fonda: Stop The Money Pipeline

The campaign is targeting JPMorgan Chase, Blackrock, Liberty Mutual and just like other Wall Street financial institutions, they are sensitive to public opinion. They have brands to protect, and customers to retain. When we unveil their complicity in the destruction of our climate, we threaten their cherished profits, and ability to attract customers. And, the more we are able to do this, the more we are able to increase the reputational risk -- and thus financial risk -- that the finance sector takes on in financing new fossil fuel projects. If we can stop the flow of money, we can stop the flow of oil.

Panelists will talk about how fossil fuel finance affects frontline communities, the basics of the divestment campaigns for each of the targets and why this is so important to climate justice and how you can take action in your local community for the biggest US finance campaign of 2020.
For the Earth and All Generations,

The WECAN International Team
