YOUR VOICE NEEDS TO BE HEARD -
Louisville City Council Votes on Redtail Ridge TONIGHT!

Approval of the Redtail Ridge application by city council could change Louisville forever, adding more cars to our roads and putting more pollution in the air, overtaxing city resources, and destroying hundreds of acres of wildlife habitat.

We want our city councilors to vote NO on Redtail Ridge. Here’s what you can do to persuade them:

1)  Email them now. Say why you think Redtail Ridge is wrong for Louisville and ask them to vote NO. If you’ve already emailed them, but have more to say, email them againCouncil@LouisvilleCO.gov.

2)  Log in to the meeting tonight. If this meeting were in person, we’d want a big crowd there to show the strength of the opposition. The Zoom equivalent of the big crowd is for as many people to log in to the meeting as possible, and stay logged in for the duration. FYI: The only people visible on screen for the entire meeting are city council and staff. Attendees are muted until called upon to speak. Only the council will see how many people are in attendance – though you can ask for a count during the public comments period.

The Zoom link for the meeting will be added HERE at 5.45 pm. The meeting starts at 6:00 p.m. and will go for several hours. You can also call in to the meeting at +1 408 638 0968 or 833 548 0282 (Toll Free), Webinar ID # 825 3658 7420. Here is the link to the AGENDA.

3)  Speak at the meeting tonight. This is important!

The best comments come from the heart. Talk about why city council’s decision on Redtail Ridge matters to you. This can be incredibly effective in conveying the depth of public sentiment on an issue.

Here’s how it works: When it’s time for public comments, click on the “raise hand” icon on your Zoom screen (or *9 if you are calling in) and wait for your name to be called. You’ll be unmuted by someone on the other end. You’re allowed a maximum of 3 minutes to talk; when you start speaking a timer will pop up on the screen to help you keep track.

(For a more detailed account of this process, see City Council Meeting Logistics on the public engagement website.)

Please feel free to forward this email to any of your friends/family/colleagues that want to keep the small town feel of Louisville.

Notes on the Redtail Ridge development:

Redtail Ridge would be almost three times larger than StorageTek was, and would have almost twice the square footage ConocoPhillips was approved for in 2010. Building Redtail Ridge would require the city council of Louisville to summarily change the Comprehensive Plan the residents of the city spent thousands of hours drafting, which limits development at the site to 3 million square feet.

Louisville’s planning commission unanimously rejected the developer’s request for amendments to the Comprehensive Plan, and Boulder County opposes the development for the same reason: Redtail Ridge is too big for Louisville.

Redtail Ridge is inconsistent with Louisville’s small-town character and its values of close community and environmental sustainability. It adds to the sprawl along US 36 between Boulder and Denver.

If city council approves Redtail Ridge, the people of Louisville will have no recourse but to hold a referendum overturning the decision. Because petitions for the referendum must be circulated in person, and electronic signature collection is not allowed, even during a pandemic, the health and safety of everyone in Louisville is put at risk.

Have you seen the two letters to the editor and a guest opinion that have been published in the Daily Camera in the last few days? Well done!

Finally, THANK YOU for joining together during this important time and supporting this crucial fight. Your support, your letters, your words make a difference! Now...let's take our words and energy to the City Council meeting tonight!
We are on notice that.............
this is what we have to lose.
