From being able to extract water from the air for human consumption to drawing out plastics from our oceans and emission-free mobility, the potential applications for MOFs are endless.

What are MOF's? And, why should you care? Come learn tonight!

In a talk titled “Solving Big Problems with Small Things,” Omar Farha will explain metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) – where we are today in their development and how they are likely to be a defining material of the 21st century.

Farha's research is focused on the rational design of MOFs, or smart sponges, and he co-founded the first company to commercialize an engineered system-level product enabled by MOFs. Through NuMat Technologies, he is committed to delivering “atomically-precise solutions to the problems that matter.”

This is the second of seven Telluride Science Town Talks this summer. The Talks will be held every Tuesday evening at the Telluride Conference Center June 6th through July 25th, with the exception of July 4th.

This engaging and informative series is presented by Alpine Bank with additional support from the Telluride Mountain Village Homeowners Association. Many thanks to our wonderful sponsors!

If you're unable to attend tonight, Emmy and Peabody Award-winning journalists Judy Muller and George Lewis will condense tonight's program into a 30-minute episode on our podcast series, Science Straight Up.

The podcast will be available later this summer at telluridescience.org and wherever you listen to podcasts.

Visit telluridescience.org to learn more about Telluride Science and our capital campaign to transform the historic Telluride Depot into the Telluride Science & Innovation Center, a permanent home for Telluride Science and a global hub of inspired knowledge exchange and development where great minds solve great challenges.
