TONKA Wisdom - a Loving Tribute
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Many of you know that Jeff and I had to put our beautiful Tonka to sleep in early January this year. We are so grateful for the nearly 17 years that Tonka shared with us. Our poor, sweet boy was tired. When he had a sad turn, just after Christmas, we knew it was his time to cross the Rainbow Bridge.
TONKA
Feb. 2003 - Jan. 2020

When I sat to write my January article, it just felt right to share a bit of wisdom I learned from living with and loving Tonka. We loved him dearly and will miss him If Tonka could talk here's what he'd tell you about what he learned during his life:
T
- Take time to explore -
Stop and smell the flowers...every single one! Enjoy the simple pleasures of a walk, a nap, or chasing after something meaningful. Learn something new, take a class, begin a hobby, start a journal, or maybe sign up with a workout group. Exploring is good for the soul!
O
- Open your heart -
Be willing to forgive. Be willing to consider a different perspective and point-of-view. It's difficult to open up and be vulnerable but when people see who we really are it helps to strengthen our bonds with those we love. When we are genuine and sincere with others we invite loyalty and faithfulness into our relationships.
N -
Never miss an opportunity to show someone you care -
Sometimes all we need to do is to just sit and listen to our loved ones and let them know we're there for them and that they can count on us. Remember kindness matters. Our small acts of compassion and thoughtfulness have the power to change the world.
K - Keep digging until you get what you want -
Don't give up on your dreams. What's meant for you will find it's way to you, be patient and know that when it's time, your dreams will come true. Do one thing today that helps move you toward what you want and repeat that thing tomorrow. Try it, it works!
A
- Accept what is and move on -
Don't harbor negative feelings, don't keep regret in your heart and don't hold a grudge toward others, there's enough love to go around for all of us. It's okay to be hurt, or angry, or resentful; negative feelings and events are just opportunities for us to step up and grow and evolve as vibrant living beings.
I hope you'll find as much good in TONKA's WISDOM as we found joy in the years we shared with him.
Rest in Peace Tonka Bug - We Love You!
