POST-STORM REPORT /1ST LOOK

Well, we came through the storm in pretty good shape, except for 106 Inlet Way (Ocean 18), which had its garage flooded for the second time. We had no major damage to buildings or houses in town.

On the other hand, as I am sure most of you know, the Inlet Walkway is a mess. The helicopter pad in the area at the end of the access road is covered in 3ft of sand. It is just after high tide, and the water is right at the Inlet sea walls. Small rocks, large rocks, medium size rocks, and lots and lots of sand have been pushed upon the Walkway. We will get that removed as quickly as we can. However, we cannot begin that work until the Corps of Engineers arrives to do their rip-rap inspections. As you can imagine, the Corps is busy. We are trying to contact them and will get that done as quickly as possible.

Except for the Inlet, the town will be back to order in fairly short order.

On a disappointing point, the backflow valve at Bamboo and Lake failed, probably because it is clogged with dirt and construction debris. Therefore, we have flooding at the intersection of Lake and Bamboo. The intersection is being closed until the flooding subsides. We are already working to resolve the issue with the valve (up until the storm, it has performed well in stopping flooding).

As for garbage collection, there will be NO garbage collection until Monday.
