TPF is Growing & Thriving

Dear Friends,

It has been a while since we have reached out with news and information about the Tacoma Parks Foundation. I promise to do better at regularly communicating your impact going forward.

I want to start by thanking you for your past support and introducing myself. I am Beth Boggs, and as of March 2024, I am the new Executive Director of the Tacoma Parks Foundation (TPF). Since joining the foundation team, I have used the time to learn more about our mission, vision, and values and get to know Metro Parks Tacoma (MPT) and our community partners.

What has become evident to me since starting this role is A LOT has changed at MPT and TPF since 2020 and we are continuing to learn, grow, and pivot to support the growth and innovative programming at Metro Parks Tacoma.

Metro Parks Tacoma evolved during, through, and after the pandemic to find new ways to connect Tacoma communities with healthy ways to recreate and reduce barriers to access through new programs and partnerships. Several incredible community partnerships have been formed to better support children’s social and emotional growth, increase physical activity, and help families with the childcare crisis that exists locally and nationally. I look forward to sharing these impactful programs with you in our next newsletter.

As I begin the next phase of my journey at Tacoma Parks Foundation, I look forward to connecting with you and learning more about how we can support you in creating opportunities for recreation and leisure in Tacoma. The TPF staff and board are excited to reenergize our partnership with the community. My door is always open, so please be encouraged to reach out with feedback, questions, or suggestions.

Thank you for your support.

Yours in partnership,

Beth Boggs

Meet The Team!

Our small and mighty team has expanded, and our roles have evolved to create more opportunities to advance access to programs, parks, recreation, and leisure time for Tacoma’s residents. I am excited to introduce our team:

Beth Boggs

Executive Director

While I have the privilege to oversee all our work, I will also have a special focus on realigning and strengthening the foundation to better meet the needs of MPT programs and parks and their partners. In addition, I look forward to getting on the road soon to meet up with folks to provide information on who TPF is today and to get to know the many people who have been an integral part of the foundation’s mission.

Keysha-Rae Cooper

Director of Corporate Philanthropy

Keysha-Rae joined the foundation in January 2024. Her role is a completely new revenue stream for MPT and the Tacoma Parks Foundation. She focuses on programmatic and project support from corporations, corporate foundations, local professional athletes, and employee giving programs for MPT venue expansion/renovation funding and large-scale program support, as opposed to marketing or sponsorship dollars.

Hannah Fields

Director of Individual and Community Philanthropy

Hannah has been with MPT or the Tacoma Parks Foundation since 2015. Her institutional knowledge has been impactful with all the changes in the foundation and at MPT. She is a true steward of foundation giving and aligning MPT needs with individual and foundation priorities.

Quinn Bartholomew

Manager of Operations and Communications

Quinn started with the Tacoma Parks Foundation in 2019. She is the organization's backbone and shines while managing internal financial and operational functions within TPF. She is also the champion of the Memorial Giving program.

The Tacoma Parks Foundation is actively recruiting talented and inspiring new board members to help lead and shape the future of the Foundation. The link in the button below contains a brief questionnaire required by all prospective members and includes the mission, vision, and values of the Tacoma Parks Foundation. The questionnaire also links to the Memorandum of Understanding so interested community members can learn about the requirements of TPF board members.

We have a desire to strengthen our board by attracting community champions with skills in the following areas: Human resources, legal, financial management, fund development, park and/or industry experience, knowledge of collaborative program partnerships, and technology.

In addition, the board is committed to diversifying and strengthening our board membership to be more reflective of the community we serve to include: diversity of gender and gender identities, LGBTQIA, Black, Indigenous, Pacific Islander, Asian, Hispanic, Latin, or Mexican identities, ages above 50 and between 18-29, and people who live or work in north, east, and south Tacoma.
