'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that Saint Nicholas soon would be there.
The children all nestled, all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And Mama in her kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had settled our brains for a long winter's nap.
When out on the road, there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow,
Gave the luster of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a propane delivery truck, with a driver so sincere.
With the hum of his truck and the glow of the night,
He whistled and shouted, "No time to wait!"
"Onward to the next home, with warmth in my hold,
Keeping families cozy and spirits bold!"
He navigated the roads with care and with grace,
Delivering warmth, with a smile on his face.
The children lay dreaming, so peaceful and sound.
As he filled the tank and safely came down.
He hopped back in his truck and, with a final salute,
He drove off into the night, a Christmas time route.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,
"Merry Christmas to all, and to all a warm night!"
