In this edition of the Monday Morning Messenger, the association shares how over $1 billion dollars has been allocated to switch city and county buses and transits to low emissions and how propane plays in and provides you with a fact sheet you can share with your local transits.
Our next three stories touch on several upcoming important events including our upcoming 2nd quarter TPGA board & committee meetings. The association will be meeting to discuss new membership categories, regulatory updates, scholarships, and other industry matters.
TPGA is very excited to announce we have new regulatory compliance training we are organizing for the Crossroads Conference. Find out more about the training in our third story of the morning.

$1.4 Billion Dollars in Federal Grants Available
Propane Transit Buses & Vans
|
|
There is a grant totaling more than $1.4 billion managed by the Federal Transit Authority (FTA) to replace, rehabilitate, purchase, or lease buses, related equipment, or facilities with alternatives like propane autogas funded by the 2021 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
FTA combined two grant opportunities: the Buses & Bus Facility Program and the Low or No Emission Grant Program. The Buses & Bus Facility Program awards grant money to projects that will improve resiliency, reliability, and service. The Low or No Emission Grant Program awards grant money to projects that will reduce energy use and emissions.
Contact your state and local governments to alert them that propane autogas transit, paratransit, and other medium-duty vehicles, equipment, and maintenance facilities are eligible for purchase or lease under the FTA grants.
Grant applications are due by May 31, 2022. The grant announcement is available online here.
The Propane Council of Texas has contracted with a grant expert to help any Texas fleet that wants to pursue any state or federal grant opportunity.

Regulatory Compliance Training
Announced for Crossroads
|

The Texas Propane Gas Association (TPGA) will be hosting Regulatory Compliance Training Forum on Monday, June 20, 2022, from 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm as part of the 2022 Crossroads Propane Expo & Conference.
The afternoon will kick off with lunch, followed by 30–45-minute training sessions from various state and federal government agencies that regulate the propane industry.
Attend the regulatory training series that will include sessions from:
- Railroad Commission of Texas
- Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement of the Texas Highway Patrol
- Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation
- Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation
Additional state and federal regulatory agencies have been invited.
In the upcoming weeks in the Messenger, we will announce what compliance item each agency will be tackling.
TPGA will host a Regulatory/Government Pavilion on the expo floor with several additional state and federal agencies that regulate or provide government aid to the propane industry for those who cannot make the training.
