In Brief

Welcome to the latest edition of the Monday Morning Messenger!

In the first story of the day, the Texas Propane Gas Association reminds everyone that when you hire drivers, some of those drivers may need Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) and provides resources to assist you with the process.

Secondly, TPGA is heading to New Braunfels for its 4th quarter meetings. Join us there for committee meetings, an inside look into CETP training, an RRC update, and our Oktoberfest Dinner.

As we head into the heating season, TPGA wants to remind everyone that Propane CSR guides are available to propane companies. Learn more about how to obtain them, and don't forget you can pick them up at this upcoming board meeting.

Lastly, while we are discussing the heating season, we want to ensure you do not forget to send your customers propane safety information and learn how you can do so through ProCOT's Duty to Warn Program.

Also, check out our Quick Links section of the Messenger to access the latest Winter Weekly newsletter, get fast access to PSC, and find more information on the upcoming Propane Emergencies class, as well as rebates.

Hiring Drivers for the Winter?

Are you still in the process of hiring drivers for the winter?

Here are some reminders on if that driver needs Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration:

Entry-level CMV drivers in interstate and intrastate commerce who are applying for one of the below must complete Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT):

• Obtaining a Class A or Class B CDL for the first time

• Upgrading an existing Class B CDL to a Class A CDL

• Obtaining a hazardous materials (H) endorsement

Each state driver's license office must electronically verify with the FMCSA that the applicant completed the required ELDT training and certification process before administering a CDL skills test or before the knowledge test for an ‘H’ endorsement.

ELDT FAQ's

The National Propane Gas Association (NPGA)'s ACE program helps companies navigate ELDT by handling all required FMCSA submissions, shielding companies from FMCSA audits, and guiding new drivers through training.

LEARN MORE ABOUT ACE

If you have any ELDT ACE Program questions, you can contact NPGA's ELDT staff at 202-466-7203 or eldt@npga.org 7 am – 4 pm CDT.

Duty to Warn Program

is in Full Swing

Don't wait until the deadline! Register for the Propane Council of Texas' Duty to Warn Safety Mailing Program.

The 2023 Texas Duty to Warn Safety Mailing Program from the Propane Council of Texas (ProCOT) is open for the 2023 heating season while supplies last.

The program provides Texas propane providers an economical way to get much-needed safety information to their Texas propane customers, as well as providing sufficient documentation that they educate their customers with important, valuable safety information.

ProCOT covers the brochure and postage to Texas consumers when mailed through our program. Texas propane retailers just

pay $38 per company registration and 9.5 cents per address. Sign up now to get propane safety information to your customers before the heating season.

The deadline to mail your brochures before the end of the year is December 1, 2023.
