Fall Board Hotel Reservation Deadline

You have probably read how the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has granted a temporary exemption from the renewal requirements regarding its Security Threat Assessment (STA) for Hazardous Material Endorsement (HME) holders. The HME Threat Assessment Program conducts a threat assessment for any driver seeking to obtain, renew and transfer a hazardous materials endorsement on a state-issued commercial driver’s license. TSA determined that it is in the public interest to grant a temporary exemption for commercial truck drivers renewing their HME. However, it is up to the states to exempt drivers who have previously passed the threat assessment and whose HME is set to expire between July 1, 2022, and December 27, 2022 by extending the expiration date for a period of up to 180 days for HME holders. However, the Texas Department of Public Safety is choosing not to adopt the exemption at this time.

If TPGA members are seeing delays in CDL/HME processing in Texas that you believe would warrant Texas DPS adopting this exemption, please reach out to TPGA so we can gather, see if this is widespread, and relay this information to DPS leaders for their further consideration.

Room rates range from $139/per night + tax to $159/night+ tax depending on the type of room you reserve. October 3, 2022 is the cut-off for making your reservations at the group rate. Check-in is at 3:00pm; check-out is 11:00am.
