In the past year, TPS schools have barely opened, leaving parents in a bind on not only the education of their children but having to make arrangements for their care, which oftentimes means quitting their job to care for their children who should have been in school. This has created a hardship on parents and children. And yet, Consultant/Administration costs at TPS hit record-level spending this school year.
The time for accountability and transparency in education is NOW! Help us send a BOLD message that it is time for the TPS School Board to listen to the voices of parents and stakeholders from across the district. Public schools should focus on educating our students not indoctrinating them with things like Critical Race Theory. Demand the proper use of hard-earned taxpayer resources, especially now during a time of rising inflation and low employment. With your help, we can send a strong message to school districts across Oklahoma that we care about the education of our children, we care about what is being taught to our students, and we are watching how our hard-earned tax dollars are being spent! Accountability matters.
The Republican Party of Tulsa County opposes all 4 propositions of this bond package. Our Party Platform supports lower taxes, fiscal responsibility, transparency in how funding is spent, and accountability. This bond achieves none of these criteria.
Join us in sending a clear message of your disapproval of Superintendent Gist and her administration by joining many other conservatives in voting NO on all four issues on the upcoming Tulsa School bond election on Tuesday, June 8, 2021.
How YOU can help:
-
Help spread the word through text messaging, email, and social media. – Bond packages require 60% “Yes” votes because it IS a tax. Last TPS School bond election had only 17,000 people turn out to vote. They are counting on voter ignorance creating low voter turnout.
-
Put a sign in your yard – Let your neighbors know how you will be voting. Signs are available at Tulsa GOP HQ 2816 E 51st St Ste 100, Tulsa. Office hours are 10-3
-
Contact friends and family in Tulsa and encourage them to vote Tuesday, June 8th
-
Attend the Parent Rally prior to TPS School Board meeting Monday, June 7, Education Service Center, 3027 S New Haven Ave, Tulsa at 5:30 pm.
- VOTE!!
Bond proposals are typically held when people least expect it – this one is no different. At a time when parents are focused on what to do with their children during the summer and summer vacations are underway, they throw a bond package on the ballot expecting low voter turnout. Let’s remember, the 2015 $415 million package passed with only 17,000 people voting. They need 60% approval to pass because it IS a tax and if defeated, once the 2015 bond expires your property taxes WILL go down.
We have played the game long enough to realize that throwing more of our hard-earned tax dollars at a problem is NOT the answer. Students are failing. Schools are failing. Schools are CLOSING. Enrollment is down. Accountability Matters.
If you do not reside in Tulsa Public School district you can still help! Share this information with your friends and family living in Tulsa. Attend the Parent Rally on Monday afternoon and watch for opportunities to wave signs. We are all in this together. We have an opportunity to send a LOUD message to school districts across Oklahoma – your help is greatly encouraged and appreciated.
Vote No! No! No! No! June 8th
