Principal's Message

Dear Taylor Prairie Families,

Thank you for sharing your amazing children with us! It has been a pleasure to see their smiles each day as they play and learn together. This is one of the best starts I have personally had in my career as an educator, and I want to thank you as caregivers for that, along with thanking our teachers and staff for their hard work and dedication.

What are learners telling us they are enjoying so far this year? We hear that they love the toys, love “everything”, enjoy their funny teachers, and are having fun making new friends. One learner said they like "Everything, but I don't like corn dogs." I love their honesty at this age! Good thing we have other awesome lunch options for this student to enjoy!

Speaking of lunch, I will be hosting “lunch and listens” this year. These virtual meetings are an opportunity for you to share what is going well and how we can continue to better serve your children. Feel free to eat your lunch as we meet! The first meeting will be at 12:30 on September 15th. Please join by clicking this link. If this time does not work for you, please reach out anytime through email emily.foster@mgschools.net or call 608-839-8515.

Again, thank you for all you have done to make this a successful start to the year!

Emily Foster

We are off to a great start!

This Month at TPS, we are celebrating...

hispanic image

Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.

The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988, on the approval of Public Law 100-402.

The day of September 15 is significant because it is the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on September 16 and September18, respectively. Also, Columbus Day or Día de la Raza, which is October 12, falls within this 30 day period.
