ELEVATE YOUR IMPACT for 2023-2024

We are #TeamTangi!

Our Meet-and-Greet events were such a fun way to kick off our start to the new school year! It was wonderful to meet our students and welcome them into our classrooms. It was equally as wonderful to meet the families who stand behind them. We look forward to growing together as the seasons of our school year progress. We want to encourage you to #ElevateYourImpact this year by joining our efforts to continue to build positivite home-to-school relationships. Those connections are invaluable to your child's education. Coming to events and experiencing the excitement of school with your child will make a lasting impression in their lives. You showed up and we are here for it!

STAY INFORMED

Occasionally, the district will need to send out updates and notifications to families regarding school closures, weather notifications, and other important emergency updates. Stay connected to our website at www.tangischools.org and follow us on Facebook and Instagram for important updates and information.

STAY CONNECTED

It is important that parent/guardian contact information on file is always up to date. Please make sure your current cell phone number, home phone number, and email address are on file with the district. Parents and guardians can update this information in their Student Progress Center Account or the school secretary can update the information.

STAY ENGAGED

TPSS now has a mobile App which will be used to push out important notifications to families. Download the app from the App Store or Google Play Store and turn on notifications under the More menu. Search Tangipahoa Parish Schools in your App store to find it. Here is a preview of the App with guidance on filtering information for your school and turning on notifications.

CHILD NUTRITION

All students in Tangipahoa Parish Public Schools will receive free breakfast and lunch during the 2023-2024 school year as part of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program.

The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) is a school meal funding option from USDA that enables a school to provide free meals to all students, without the necessity of completing applications for individual eligibility. CEP status is determined by the percentage of students from households receiving public benefits.

Students will still have the option to purchase additional meals, food & snack items, and beverages at extra sale prices. Extra sales items can be paid for in cash or by prepayment on the student’s cafeteria account. Charging for extra sale items is not allowed. Prepayments can be made by cash or check at your child’s school cafeteria or by setting up an account at myschoolbucks.com.

SCHOOL ATTENDANCE COUNTS!

Your child's attendance the first few weeks of school is crucial to paving a path for a successful academic year. Rules and procedures are being discussed. Performance expectations are being set. Introductory concepts are being presented during classroom lessons. If your child is not at school, they can be made to feel out of the loop before they even have the chance to establish routines and relationships. Doing well academically begins with your child having the confidence to be able to follow along in class. This starts with being present, physically and mentally.

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING

"We all bloom uniquely, but in this class we grow together."

Such a beautiful reminder, taken from one of our classrooms at Chesbrough Elementary. As we settle into our lessons this year, we are focusing on finding ways to extend kindness to our colleagues and peers.

Establishing a sense of belonging and family within the walls of our classrooms will help provide the nourishment needed for our students to excel.
