TECHNOLOGY

💻Online Testing

Many of our end-of-year assessments are delivered through an online platform. It is important that your child's devices arrive charged and ready to use each day.

  • Place your device on charge each evening before bed.
  • Report any broken/missing keys, or device damage to your teacher.
  • If you are experiencing any technical issues with your device, let your teacher know BEFORE testing day. This way, we can help troubleshoot the issues ahead of time.
  • Pack your charging cable with you to school every day.
  • Update the Chrome Browser.
  • Clear the Cache of your browser.
  • If you wear glasses or contacts, please make sure you have them on for testing day.
  • Eat a good breakfast.
  • Make sure you get plenty of rest at night.
  • Bring sharpened #2 pencils for scratchwork.
  • Pack a book to read.

💻Device Pick-Up

Once testing is complete, your child's school will contact you in regards to the collection our TPSS-issued devices. A good way to ensure that your child returns the equipment on the correct day is to pack the device and charging cable in their school bags each and every morning.

  • Children living in the same household can sometimes mistakenly swap Chromebooks. Make sure that the correct device is placed in the correct book bag of each child each morning.
  • Find the cables. Students must return the cable which was issued with the Chromebook. We will not accepts cables purchased on your own.
  • If there are any issues causing the Chromebook to not function correctly, please report that to the classroom teacher or school. We can help to get the device back in working order, or make a note that the device needs replacing.

Thank you for handling your devices with care :)

Have you heard about our new Magnet Center opportunity?

The purpose of the Advanced College and Career Magnet Center is to expand pathways for over 2000 11th - 12th grade students across our seven high schools in TPSS. By allowing teachers to be centrally located within The Center, TPSS juniors and seniors will have increased access to Advanced Placement (AP) and dual enrollment courses, as well as opportunities to attain basic and advanced credentials. This innovation will support students’ college and career readiness, so they are able to access meaningful post-secondary opportunities.

The new center will open at the start of the 2023 school year.

STAY CONNECTED

Building a positive relationship with the key players of your child's education is so important. It begins with building a professional and positive connection with the teachers who work with your child each day. If there is ever a question, misunderstanding, incident, or curiosity, reach out to the teacher first. Many concerns can be set at ease with a simple conversation. It is also helpful to reach out for praise, support, and appreciation. This goes both ways. Modeling a healthy and positive relationship between families and school will help to build an encouraging attitude in our children. If reaching out to the teacher is challenging, call the school office. Each school has an administrative team that is equipped to help see that your child's needs are met.
