SCHOOL ATTENDANCE COUNTS!

The Holidays are on the Way!

But now.... it's time for class.

Your child has put in an immense amount of work this semester. Being so close to Christmas Break makes it easy to lose sight of school assignments. Let's help our children finish strong by offering encouragement to keep going, and guidance to getting the work done.

Keeping students focused and committed before the holiday break can be a challenge, but there are strategies that can help:

Set Clear Goals: Help students understand what needs to be accomplished before the break. Break down tasks into manageable chunks and create a checklist or schedule.

Stick to Your Routine: It is easy to get derailed as the holidays approach. Try to stick to your routines as much as possible. Keeping your daily tasks consistent will help your child to stay committed to waking up for school, completing homework, and getting to bed on time.

Use Positive Reinforcement: Recognize and reward their efforts and achievements as they make it one day closer to the holiday break. Positive reinforcement can motivate students to stay focused and committed.

Provide Support: Offer guidance and support when needed. Students might feel overwhelmed; providing clarity or extra help can make a big difference.

Communicate: Keep informed about your child's progress. Collaboration between teachers and parents can further support the student's commitment. Check the Student Progress Center, and reach out with questions you may have.

Stay Committed to Seeing Your Goals Through to the New Year.

We need your help to fund the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Southeast Louisiana.

The Imagination Library is dedicated to inspiring a love of reading by gifting books each month to children from birth to age five, free of charge, through funding shared by local community partners in Tangipahoa parish.

Through United Way, we are able to give back to create a better, stronger community with opportunity for all.

Changes Coming in the New Year for TPSS Chromebooks

Beginning after the holiday break, TPSS will begin to implement changes for student Chromebooks for grades K-8. We will transition to housing Chromebooks in classrooms rather than requiring students to carry devices between school and home. This change will reduce the amount of device repairs and replacements and will increase the sustainability of the devices for future use.

Chromebooks will be stored in classroom carts and managed by teachers so they are always charged and readily available to students for classroom assignments and assessments. Students in grades 5-8 will have access to Chromebooks with bigger screens,  which will increase the visibility of work assignments, programs, and other resources. Students who are participating in after-school intervention programs or have other specific needs will have the option of taking a device home if needed.

These changes in device management do not affect our high schools. High School students will continue to carry devices between school and home until further notice.

STAY HEALTHY

Tis the Season... Cold & Flu Season that is!

We can help do our part to ensure that we are not spreading germs to others by taking a few extra steps to practice good hygiene:

  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after coughing, sneezing, using the restroom, or touching surfaces which may be contaminated.
  • Avoid close contact with sick individuals. Try to remain a safe distance from people who are showing flu-like symptoms, such as coughing and sneezing.
  • Stay home if you are feeling unwell. Be sure to turn in an excuse when you return to school.
  • Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze using a tissue, or the inside of your elbow to cover your mouth and nose.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
  • Stay hydrated and eat a healthy diet to help boost your immuse system.
  • Get an adequate amount of rest each night.
  • Dress warmly in cold weather to protect yourself agaist the elements.
  • Take some time to distress and find ways to stay active to keep your mind & body in shape.

Mid year is a great time to restock on used supplies. Dontating a box of kleenex to your child's classroom could really help our children combat their sniffles. We appreciate your generosity!
