Weekly Analyst Review

10 May 2023

Bottom Line Up Front

The image to the right was recently promoted on Telegram highlighting the alliance between "No Lives Matter (NLM)," "Maniacs Assassin Cult (MKU)," and "764". If true, their merger represents a dangerous and very deranged equation of three extreme right wing groups across three continents.

NLM and 764, appear to have teamed up. Much of the propaganda featured in NLM channels has the image seen here of a man's covered head with the 764 group's emblem watermarked. It is important to note that NLM was recently promoted among European members of the Satanic Neo-Nazi Order of Nine Angles (O9A/ ONA), a group that infiltrates many other racist groups in an attempt to further their agenda and grow their Satanic Neo-Nazi cult.

The addition of 764 is quite possibly the most disturbing aspect of this 'alliance,' because this is the first that TRAC has documented 764 activity in over a year. '764' is a group that lacks a common ideology such as Neo-Nazi or white nationalism, but instead adheres to deranged practices that thrive on child pornography and coercing young girls to self-mutilate by carving '764' into their flesh.

The third member of this alliance, MKU, is also a Neo-Nazi group. The group's members refer to themselves as 'maniacs,' taking pride in behaving erratically, attacking homeless people, immigrants, and LGBTQ communities, often filming themselves in beat-downs or even murdering these groups of people in Russia. Additionally, MKU advocates for school shootings, which have become more commonplace across Russia. The last documented MKU event occurred in September 2022 when 187 members were detained by FSB. What makes the addition of MKU to the NLM and 764 pairing unique is the fact that up until now, MKU was only known to be in Russia or Ukraine and had only mingled with English speaking RWE tangentially in 2020.

Islamic State (IS) and Hamas Use Binance for

Cryptocurrency Exchange

Binance is one of the largest digital currency exchange platforms and on 05 May 2023, it was reported that Israel’s National Bureau for Counter Terror Financing (NBCTF) had recently seized approximately 190 Binance accounts, including two allegedly linked to the Islamic State (IS) while others are reportedly associated with Palestinian firms connected to Hamas.

The documents released by the NBCTF showed that the two alleged IS accounts were seized in January this year, but the report doesn’t specify the type or quantity of digital assets in the two accounts, which were reportedly opened by a 28-year-old Palestinian named Osama Abuobayda.

The other seized accounts were owned by three Palestinian currency exchange firms — Al Mutahadun For Exchange, Dubai Company for Exchange, and Al Wefaq Co. It is worth mentioning that Israel has declared all three of these firms terrorist organizations for their connections with Hamas.

Of note, this is not the first time Hamas associated firms have been found to be using the Binance digital asset exchange platform. In 2019, Israel authorities stated that Hamas had long been using cryptocurrency to fund its activities. Purportedly in 2022, Israel even went on to seize assets from 12 digital accounts and 30 cryptocurrency wallets, claiming it was linked to Hamas.

Islamic State has been actively exploring its options to exploit these emerging technologies. Besides regularly asking for donations in various cryptocurrencies, in September 2022, IS sympathizers were found creating Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) to spread propaganda and raise millions of dollars in cryptocurrency like Bitcoin.

TRAC Incident Report:

Local Sources Claim Nearly 1,000 Bandits Under Dan Karami

Have Migrated from Zamfara to Katsina State, Nigeria

Map of Safana LGA and the surrounding areas

On 07 May 2023, Bandits under the leadership of Dan-Karami fled Zamfara State into Katsina State due to increased military pressure in Zamfara State. Hundreds of Bandits have been spotted in the bush by locals, near the Rugu forest which straddles Zamfara into Katsina, building permanent shelters. They have also spread out into local communities such as: Tsaskiya, Runka, Gora, and Labo among others. While it may seem like exaggerated numbers, eyewitnesses report there are at least 1,000 Bandits on at least 300 motorcycles moving through the area, heavily armed and herding massive herds of cattle - the bread and butter of funding in Katsina.

The Joint Nigerian Army and Nigerian Air Force (NAF) troops have continually put pressure on Bandits in Zamfara State, ousting many of them from the forests within the region. However, the pressure has not deterred the Bandits; they have merely migrated to surrounding states to relieve the pressure. Katsina State has been one of the hardest hit areas with Bandit migration because of the forests that straddle the borders, allowing free passage for Bandits as they migrate.

The problem that these Bandits run into is a challenge for territory in which to operate that is not controlled by another Bandit leader. It is said that Dan-Karami has unified with Usman Modi-Modi, a well-armed and provisioned Bandit leader in Katsina State, forming some sort of accord for logistics and operational freedom in Safana LGA and surrounding regions. Dan-Karami has come with his own weapons, meaning the combined force has a huge arsenal, which worries the locals and as such, villagers have also began quietly migrating out of the area for their own safety. If these gangs indeed join up, they could prove to be a potent force for the Nigerian military.

Paramjit Singh Panjwar

On 06 May 2023, Khalistan Commando Force (KCF) Chief Paramjit Singh Panjwar, aka Malik Sardar Singh, was shot dead by an unidentified gunmen in Lahore. The targeted assassination took place in the early morning hours as Paramjit was on his morning walk near his house in Sunflower Society, Johar. The killer was reportedly on a motorcycle, making it an easy drive-by assassination. One of Panjwar's personal armed guards was also injured in the assault.

Khalistan Commando Force (KCF), formed in 1985, is a group that has been designated as a terror organization in India. In 2020, Paramjit Singh Panjwar was classified as an "individual terrorist" under the UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act) for his involvement in arms training for youths and for supplying arms and drugs. He was also said to be the mastermind behind many attacks in Indian Punjab. Panjwar took over the leadership of KCF in the 1990s and had been living in a safe house in Pakistan.
