UTILITY WORK TO PERIODICALLY CLOSE CURLEW DRIVE
Impacts to local traffic and neighborhoods will last through June

NORFOLK – Curlew Drive will periodically close at points between Kidd Boulevard and Newtown Road from March 31 through June for utility work in support of VDOT’s I-64/I-264 Interchange Improvements Project.

Dominion Virginia Power is performing the work, which involves the replacement of four power line structures to further elevate a transmission line along Curlew Drive.

Crews will work seven days a week, including some weekends. At times, the work will require the complete closure of Curlew Drive near the I-64 overpass. Easton Preschool and homes off Curlew Drive will always remain accessible from the other side of the closure.

The first closure of Curlew Drive is scheduled to begin at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 31, and last through April 2. Traffic will be blocked at Kidd Boulevard. During this closure, entry to neighborhoods to the east of the I-64 overpass must be made from Newtown Road.

Norfolk Public Schools has also begun to notify parents about potential busing delays as a result of this work.

  • Workers will need to close Curlew Drive on other dates in April, May and June. For updated schedule announcements, visit VDOT’s project website: www.i64i264improvements.org. Dominion Virginia Power’s schedule is subject to change as work progresses.
  • To reach Dominion, email its Electric Transmission team at [email protected] or call toll-free at 888-291-0190 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
