- On Sunday, May 31, contractor crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation will begin temporary signal installation at the intersection of Laskin Road and First Colonial Road.
This work, part of the Laskin Road Bridge Replacement and Widening Project, will require brief, temporary traffic stoppages at the intersection on May 31 as early as 7 a.m. During these temporary stoppages, motorists should follow the direction of law enforcement and be mindful of crews working alongside the roadway.
The backup date for this work is Sunday, June 8.
The temporary traffic signal, once installed, will be operational during utility work that will affect the existing traffic signal poles.
Following the work on Sunday, May 31, lane closures on Laskin Road can be in place Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. as work on the temporary signal installation continues. Single-lane closures on First Colonial Road can be in place Monday through Friday, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Motorists should obey the posted speed limit at all times.
