Hi Team!

We’ve officially kicked off training in Long Beach, California - the future site of the 2028 Olympic Games - and we couldn’t be more excited! We’re currently training with the Olympic Development Program (ODP) and using every opportunity to learn this venue inside and out.

But we’re not stopping there!

In addition to the ODP sessions, we’re adding extra weeks of training on our own. Since Olympic sailing depends heavily on local wind and wave conditions, every day we spend here helps us build a competitive edge.

Here’s the exciting part: foreign teams won’t begin training here until 2026, which means we’ll have a significant head start. That’s a massive advantage - but it comes with additional costs, and that’s where we need your support.

Help us make the most of our time in Long Beach with support toward:

$5,000 - Coaching fees

$4,000 - Transporting boats and gear across the country (twice!)

• Follow @americanwave2028 to keep up with Ryan and our Marketing Manager, Faith, as they road trip with three 470s in tow!

$1,500 - Flights to/from Long Island

• To compete at North Americans + return to LA for 3 more weeks of training

$3,500 - Housing for Nikki

• Ryan has secured a host family!

$1,000 - Food + supplements 

• We have a new sponsor, Melissa’s Produce, who is generously donating organic food to our team, but we’re still looking to cover the cost of additional food and supplements such as protein, vitamins, and recovery fuel

$1,000 - Boat storage

• We’re exploring cheaper options, but we need support now
