Vietnam Veterans Given a Long Overdue Welcome Home

On Friday, March 29th, gratitude and recognition filled the air at Carbon Valley Community Center in Firestone, Colorado as we honored those who served in the Vietnam War, yet whose sacrifice often went unrecognized upon their return home.

“As time goes on you want to realize that your sacrifice meant something to somebody,” said Dave Appel, who served in the Marines in Vietnam.

Thanks to the efforts of TRU Community Care, Carbon Valley Community Center, and American Legion Post 1985, along with the community’s support, Friday’s Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day event was a resounding success.

Equine Grief Workshop for Adults

Experience healing and connection after the loss of a loved one with our unique outdoor equine workshops. Join us for a special opportunity to engage with horses who offer invaluable support on your grief journey. Horses, as non-judgmental beings, guide us towards honesty and presence with our emotions and thoughts. Through their innate communication skills, they reflect our inner experiences, facilitating learning, growth, and healing.

No prior horse experience is necessary; we ensure safe interaction with the horses on the ground. Our workshops, conducted in collaboration with Heartlight Center, take place at private ranches in Boulder and Lyons. Choose the date and location that suits you best. Participation fee is $100 per person.

National Healthcare Decisions Day is April 16th

National Healthcare Decisions Day is recognized each year on April 16th – the day after tax day – as a way to engage the American public in conversations that encourage people to think about their end of life healthcare wishes with the goal of getting people to plan ahead, document those plans, and let loved ones know their wishes.

Advance care planning includes completing an Advance Directive (also known as a living will) and appointing a Health Care Power of Attorney (someone to make healthcare decisions for you if you are unable to speak for yourself). Then, most importantly, sharing your decisions with your family and loved ones.

The Conversation Project in Boulder County (TCPBC), a program of TRU Community Care, provides tools and resources to help you start these conversations.

Bonuses Incentive Extended Through April for Employee CNA Referrals

In an initiative to hire needed Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), TRU increased the employee referral bonus for CNA hires from $500 to $750 throughout the month of March and has now extended the increased bonus through April.

If you are acquainted with any suitable candidates, kindly submit a referral bonus request form to the Human Resources department before your referral's scheduled interview. Additionally, ensure that they mention your name when completing their employment application.
