The Conversation Project in Boulder County Presents Cello to a Packed House

On Tuesday, April 16th, in honor of National Healthcare Decisions Day, The Conversation Project in Boulder County, a TRU program, hosted an event that featured Cello, a short film about a renowned musician facing a terminal diagnosis and navigating important end-of-life conversations. The film showing was followed by a discussion with a panel that included the film's producers and others working in end-of-life care. The event, which took place at The Dairy Arts Center's Boedecker Theatre, sold out quickly, necessitating a second showing and panel discussion that evening.

Below is a short recap and appreciation from Becki Parr, Project Coordinator of The Conversation in Boulder County:

The film, Cello, was thought-provoking and beautiful. We were incredibly fortunate to hear directly from its producers, Helen Nightengale and Alex Craven, who joined our panel. A few audience members asked how they could view the film again and/or recommend it to friends and family. Cello is available to watch on Vimeo for $2.99

TRU and The Conversation Project in Boulder County (a program of TRU) hosted this event to encourage people to think about and communicate their end-of-life healthcare values and wishes with those most important to them. Our hope is the program motivated our guests to consider their choices and start the conversation.

We appreciated the engagement of the audience. We reached approximately 130 attendees, both with the film viewing and a meaningful panel discussion. We are so grateful to each person who served on our carefully selected panel. For more information about these individuals who shared their stories and expertise, reference these panel bios.

Sometimes it is hard to know where to start when considering your end-of-life choices; you may struggle with identifying a healthcare agent or knowing what advance care planning forms to fill out. The Conversation Project in Boulder County (TCPBC) offers free advance care planning coaching.

TRU Updates

Celebrating National Volunteer Week

Last night, TRU celebrated its tremendous force of volunteers at a dinner and award ceremony to honor the 360+ volunteers who are the heart of TRU Community Care! Last year alone, these individuals donated a staggering 30,000 hours across our hospice, grief services, TRU Thrift Shop, and other programs.

Our volunteers provide vital support to patients, families, and the community. They offer bedside companionship, respite care, therapy services, and more for our hospice patients. They facilitate grief support groups, manage the Grief Services lending library, and keep our TRU Thrift Shop running smoothly.

Read more about TRU's volunteers in this blog post, and please enjoy photos from last night's celebration below.
