TRU Leadership Volunteers at Thrift Shop

On Monday, TRU's leadership team joined volunteers at the TRU Thrift Shop to learn about operations and assist with daily tasks. Thrift Shop Manager Lynn McCullough began with a behind-the-scenes tour, showing how donated items are processed, sorted, cleaned, tested, and prepared for sale. Leadership team members were then sorted into stations with Thrift volunteer leads to help with these duties.

"It was great having the leadership group here for a day of service and community. The volunteers enjoyed sharing their work," said Lynn. "The timing couldn't have been better. Summer brings more donations to manage and fewer volunteer hours due to vacations. It was very satisfying to complete so many projects on our to-do list."



The TRU Thrift Shop, celebrating its 19th year this month, generated over $1 million in sales last year, with more than $500,000 supporting TRU programs and services.

The Last Ecstatic Days: A Movie Recommendation from TRU's Volunteers Department

TRU's Volunteers department is recommending the movie The Last Ecstatic Days, the story of a man who, diagnosed with an incurable form of brain cancer, resolves to live as well as he can in the days he has left and share his journey with the world via social media.

The movie, recommended by a TRU volunteer, has been well received by other volunteers and has been added to the Volunteers department's education curriculum. If you have watched it, please share your thoughts with volunteer@trucare.org.
