Mission Moment

A Grief Community of One

This issue's Mission Moment comes from a participant in one of our Equine Grief Workshops. Thank you to TRU Support Services Manager, Kathryn Messman, for sending.

If you have a story you'd like to see featured as a Mission Moment, please email markflanagan@trucare.org.

Good morning and thank you for a most magical day.

The reason I chose an equine grief therapy group was from a previous experience after my mom died. At that time, for me, it was magical and yesterday met and exceeded my expectations.

Jackie, Cathy and Bria were exceptional facilitators, sharing information, keeping the group moving forward while also being part of the grief community. The group came together as individuals on their own grief journey but we all left as a grief community of one. All the activities wrapped my heart in peace and learning resulting in growth along my personal journey. The activities were balanced, I would have liked more time with the horses but weather dictated our participation.

Last year I tried to sign up for a session and all places had been taken. This year I jumped on the opportunity to sign up as soon as I saw openings. It was easy to sign up. Brenda, you were very communicative and your follow-up much appreciated.

The facility is breathtaking.

I would highly recommend equine therapy, especially with Living Spirit Hoses as a cohort of grief therapy.

Leslie

TRU Updates

Celebrating Pride Month

This June, TRU Community Care joins organizations around the world in celebrating Pride Month - a time to honor the LGBTQ+ community and the ongoing pursuit of equality.

Pride Month commemorates the Stonewall Uprising in June 1969 in New York City, a catalyst for the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement. During this month and throughout the year, we recognize the remarkable impact LGBTQ+ individuals have had in enriching our communities and moving society toward greater inclusion.

At TRU Community Care, we are committed to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion for our LGBTQ+ staff, volunteers, and clients. We stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community and strive to create safe, welcoming spaces free from discrimination.

Throughout Pride Month, we encourage everyone to educate themselves on LGBTQ+ issues, support LGBTQ+-owned businesses, and reflect on how we can all help build a society of mutual understanding and respect. Together, we can create a more compassionate world.

Happy Pride!
