I know, I know - you thought this newsletter was going to be all about Taylor Swift. But no - this is the OTHER TS. Tripepi Smith Talent Solutions, or TSTS.
The post-Covid years have been good for employees - it seems there are more jobs than there are people to fill them, particularly in positions where specific skills are needed. Local governments and other public agencies have not been immune to this phenomenon, and recruiting has presented challenges on many fronts. While the internet makes it easy to find people looking for jobs (even if there are only a few), it falls short of identifying whether someone is the right fit for a position or for the organization in general.
This is where Tripepi Smith Talent Solutions steps in. Since 2020, TSTS has been dedicated to supporting government agencies by offering a suite of recruitment services. Our work with over 200 local government agencies means we regularly work hand-in-hand with government officials, so we know what strong talent looks like. At the recent CSDA Annual Conference, TSTS team members Cathy Thompson and Kylie Sun delivered an insightful session titled ‘How to Recruit When No One Knows What You Do.’ They noted that government agencies, and special districts in particular, must work a little harder to recruit for their positions. The world outside of local government doesn’t always understand what these agencies do. So it’s important that the mission is communicated clearly in the recruiting process. Their presentation was a fusion of their personal experiences in aiding agencies peppered with valuable tips for crafting a seamless search process and insider strategies for helping your agency stand apart from the crowd.
