IASP Secretary of the Year
The Indiana Association of School Principals awarded the Indiana Secretary of the Year award to Janae Bosma of Dayton Elementary School. Janae has been with the TSC for 15 years. The award recognizes a secretary who demonstrates compassion, service, leadership and going above and beyond.

TSC names new fleet manager
The TSC Transportation Department has named Kirk Brooks as the new Fleet Manager, replacing Steve Leman, who is retiring after 30 years of service. Brooks, who has won national and state mechanic competitions, will oversee a team of nine mechanics who maintain more than 120 buses and vehicles. 

“We are excited to see Kirk step into this role,” says TSC Transportation Director Greg Haltom. “We appreciate the many years of dedicated service Steve has given to the TSC. He has always made the health and safety of our students and staff a priority. We wish him and his wife well as they retire to Columbia City to spend more time fishing.”

Nominations open for the Golden Apple Awards
Think of a colleague who has demonstrated great creativity, leadership and innovation this year and nominate him or her for a Golden Apple Award.

Greater Lafayette Commerce presents the prestigious Golden Apple Awards each year to the most outstanding educators in our community.

Please consider nominating an educator who has made a positive impact in our schools. The link to the nomination form can be found here. The deadline is April 16.

Grant opportunity
Evonik Corporation is offering Partners in Education grants to local teachers to promote enrichment and educational excellence in STEM curricula. The deadline to apply is May 5.

TECHNOLOGY MATTERS
Spring break password reset
Your first line of defense when using technology is maintaining strong, secure passwords to protect your computer, your data, your students' data, and your online accounts.

Excluding students, anyone who has a TSC network/Google account will be required to reset their password following TSC's spring break on Monday, March 29.

If you're not going to be on-site at TSC on March 29 you can reset your password remotely by visiting https://tscvdi.tsc.k12.in.us/selecting HTML access, then following the prompts login to reset your password.

New passwords must meet certain complexity requirements and must be unique from previously used passwords. Tips for creating strong passwords can be found herePlease do not make note of your password in a location that could be accessible by others or intentionally share your password with other users (including student and substitute teachers).

INSPIRATION MATTERS

No doubt most of us have enjoyed these bursts of warmer weather and sunshine. Science tells us why we often feel better physically and mentally when such circumstances follow cold, gray days. I think it goes beyond science for me, though, as there is a sense of anticipation when spring is coming. Rosalie Stanley, new second grade teacher at Klondike Elementary, wrote this: "For me, spring signals life and growth and positivity." Rosalie nailed it I think; hopeful
associations attached to anything make that thing better. It doesn't have to be only spring that generates this hope, but I'm sure glad spring does just that!
