Tis the season at Roaring Oaks Florist!
Local Sports Venues Continue To Raise Money For Charity
About a mile off Kennedy Drive in Torrington is perhaps the best-kept secret around. Every Sunday from spring through the end of October the Foothills BMX complex is a beehive of activity as youngsters swarm the 1/5 mile track to compete in BMX racing.

This past Sunday, over 150 kids registered to take part in a BMX event to raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Upcoming fundraisers include high school scholarships and the McCall Center for Behavioral Health.

Foothills BMX is just one of the hundreds of venues raising money for over 350 area non-profits through sports-related fundraisers. You can find them at sportingAcause.com.

THE STORIES WE TELL

There is very little European charm to be found in Winsted. A New England factory town half destroyed by Hurricane Diane in 1955, it is a utilitarian working town bent on reinventing itself. But, sitting outside the  Little Red Barn Brewery, with autumn light filtering through an overhanging tree and the splash of the Mad River in the background, you can almost imagine yourself in the yard of an English pub.
