Coffee with the President
As with many charity sporting events, this year's 25th Annual Murphy Open could not take place in it's traditional form. A few stalwart supporters got their foursomes together and played a round of golf in Murph's memory. These players and sponsors enjoyed various outings at different venues throughout the month, and all wrote checks to the Murphy Open or directly to the Jane Lloyd Fund . At the end of June, the Murphy Open was able to write a check to the Jane Lloyd Fund for $1,000.
From left to right appear Jean Saliter, Murphy Open Chair, Tanya Tedder, Caroline Burchfield and Donna Lloyd Stoetzner of the Jane Lloyd Fund. Social distancing was not going to be an obstacle for this feel good story! The group gathered on a Sunday morning at the SWSA ski jumps, the would be site of the annual JLF New England Clam Bake.

BEHIND THE PAGE
In Gratitude
During the pandemic our eighth anniversary passed unnoticed and uncelebrated. There were more consequential events occurring in the world.
That said, I want to take this opportunity to express gratitude for all the aspirations of BerkshireStyle, for the amazing people with whom I work, for our readers, our advertisers and for those whom we serve.
Our mission is to celebrate the Berkshires and surrounding communities. We are storytellers and seek to inspire and enhance the rural experience, to promote and serve area businesses.
Every day I am newly excited about all that is available here...

Helmut Newton: The Bad & The Beautiful

Helmut Newton was one of the masters of image making and a trailblazing art and fashion photographer whose reputation endures today, even after his death in 2006 after a car crash.
The film tracks the artist’s life through five decades, from his beginnings in Berlin to New York, Paris, Monte Carlo and Rome, and features rare home videos, behind-the-scenes archival footage, and countless photographs.

Reason for Hope
So many cancelations, so many fundraising opportunities lost, so much uncertainty. But here in the sports-related fundraiser world there is now reason for optimism. Even as many events have canceled (and continue to) and the daily dose of Covid-19 news looks bleak, some charities are still hopeful that they can pull off their events.
Two weeks ago I offered an unhappy list of event cancelations. Today, here is a list of events that are either on the calendar or are hoping to be.

Ancrum Fire Co. Golf Tournament,  August 9th at Undermountain Golf Course
Northwest CT United Way/Charlie Ormsby Golf Tournament,   on hold
UNICO Golf Tournament,  moved to Oct 5th at Torrington Country Club
James Ducillo Canaan Exchange Club Golf Tournament, possibly in late August
Amenia Fire Co. Golf Tournament, September 12th at Undermountain Golf Course
SWSA Golf Tournament and Pig Roast,  September 19th at Undermountain Golf Course
