Join Us for our $25 for 25 Campaign!

This year marks a major milestone — 25 years of empowering students, teachers, and administrators to strengthen our community through education. From our humble beginnings in 2000 to the thriving organization we are today, none of this would have been possible without your support.

As we celebrate this incredible journey, we’re asking friends like you to contribute just $25 in honor of our 25th anniversary. Every dollar goes directly towards programming, funding, resources, and advocacy for principals, teachers, and students to succeed today and for the next 25 years.

Whether you've been with us since the beginning or recently joined our mission, your gift big or small makes a meaningful difference.

Thanks to your generous support, we’ve impacted thousands of young lives from Pre-K through 12th grade, helping them learn, grow, and thrive. Let’s continue to build a brighter future together.

Donate today and help us celebrate 25 years of impact and the many more to come!

Sincerely,

Jeanne Baird Greer

Three Schools Named CLAS Banner Award Winners

Three Huntsville City Schools are among 32 other schools across Alabama which have been named Schools of Distinction by the Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools (CLAS). CLAS hosted an awards luncheon on May 5, 2025, in Prattville, Alabama, to recognize these schools and showcase their programs and service to students.

From State School Board District 8, Schools of Distinction from HCS include Blossomwood Elementary, Monte Sano Elementary, and New Century Technology High.

“Congratulations to these wonderful Alabama public schools which provide excellent examples of the significant learning opportunities taking place in public education in Alabama. Further, the stakeholders at every school are to be commended for striving for excellence daily,” comments Vic Wilson, Ed.D., executive director of the Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools (CLAS).

The CLAS Banner School program was created in 2001 to recognize schools in Alabama that showcase outstanding programs and service to students. Each school was nominated for this award by their superintendent, with 234 schools nominated statewide.

MADISON CITY SCHOOLS

Students Receive Hands-On Experience with Madison Hospital

Madison Hospital and Madison City Schools ended a successful first year of the Hospital Student Ambassador program. This is a golden opportunity for seniors from Bob Jones and James Clemens high schools to take part in a mentorship program working in a hospital setting and exposing them to career opportunities and the pathways to get there.

The program allows students to get hands-on experience while experiencing all roles in a hospital all semester long.

“There’s so much to health care that many of the students are not aware of before they come here,” Kimberly Vanpanel, manager of imaging and cardiology, Madison Hospital, said.

Many have always wanted to work in a hospital like James Clemens graduate, Xin Lin.

“You’re going to be working with so many different aspects of the hospital, and it’s so amazing to see everyone come together,” Lin said.

Big News from Meridianville Middle

Meridianville Middle is over the Moon to share an incredible project that blends space exploration, environmental care, and the power of community.

MVMS has been awarded an Artemis Moon Tree—a loblolly pine grown from seeds that orbited the Moon aboard NASA’s Artemis I mission. This rare sapling is part of NASA’s effort to inspire future STEM leaders while honoring a legacy that began with Apollo 14.

To celebrate, they’ve created something truly out of this world:

A native pollinator garden in the shape of a galaxy spiral, with the Moon Tree at its center.

🦋 Certified as a Monarch Waystation to support butterfly migration.

🛠️ Designed and installed by Owen Bergeson, an MVMS alum/HGHS Class of 2025 Eagle Scout candidate, with help from teacher Ms. Brandi Glenn and the NATURE Club!

The area also features patriotic benches for students and guests to enjoy.

From Moon mission to middle school—this tree’s journey is officially out of this world.
