TSLF Annual Meeting

Save the date for the TSLF Annual Meeting, May 9, 11:30 am – 1 pm at the Arlington ISD Center for Visual & Performing Arts. The keynote speaker is Dr. Nathanial Hearne, author of Friday Night Lights: The Untold Story Behind the Lights. Dr. Hearne played an essential part in the lives of the football players and coaches featured in the movie.


The Annual Meeting will be held during National Travel & Tourism Week, May 7-13, 2023. National Travel and Tourism Week is an annual tradition for the U.S. travel community. It is a time when travel and tourism professionals across the country unite to celebrate the value travel holds for our economy, businesses, communities, and personal well-being.

TSLF Partners with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County


TSLF hosted students from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County for an Esports Stadium program and tour and Texas Live! tour this month. The program included speakers from the Esports Stadium Arlington, UT Arlington Kinesiology Sports, Leadership & Management Program faculty, UT Arlington Premier Varsity Esports Program and Texas Live! Over 40 BGCGTC members and staff participated in the event.

TSLF PROGRAM UPDATES

UT Arlington Student Andre Zamudio Receives Scholarship


Andre Zamudio is an Arlington ISD Lamar High School graduate. He received his Associate Degree in Arts of Kinesiology from Tarrant County College. He is currently enrolled in UT Arlington pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Sports Leadership & Management. After graduation, Andre hopes to pursue a master's degree in business management and eventually work in the front office of a professional sports franchise. He is very thankful and wants to express his deepest gratitude for receiving the TSLF scholarship.

Students Receive On-the-Job Training at Crowne Plaza


Arlington ISD Dan Dipert CTC Hospitality Services Practicum students receive on-the-job training at the Crowne Plaza Arlington. Students Luis Camacho and Joceline Rojas are receiving practicum experience in the hotel’s kitchen and front desk operations. Both students participated in the TSLF 40 Futures Initiative Program during the 2021-2022 school year.

TSLF to Host Hospitality and Sports Forum on June 8th at Choctaw Stadium


TSLF will host a Hospitality and Sports Forum on June 8th at Choctaw Stadium. This session will provide information, insight, and specific tools for teachers and counselors who are working with students seeking careers in the hospitality, tourism, and sports industries.


Industry panel discussions and a tour of THE DISTRICT (formerly known as the "Entertainment District) will be provided. Event attendance will be required for Arlington ISD Introduction to Culinary Arts and Principles of Hospitality and Tourism program teachers.

Amazon discontinued its Amazon Smile Program on February 20, 2023.


TSLF is enrolled in the Kroger Community Rewards Program. Kroger supports non-profit organizations by donating a percentage of total spending associated with all participating Kroger Community Rewards organizations. Kroger customers can help support TSLF without
