Dear TSN Coordinators,

It is strange to be writing this update, rather than reading it. As the new National TSN Coordinator, I am here to be a resource for you! I will strive to support you as you implement and grow your sites and keep you in the loop on what's happening at the national level.

Which brings me to the big news! There are now 250 Trauma Survivors Networks around the world! The Trauma Survivors Network is growing fast. It seems like we just celebrated 200 sites. Because of the work you do coordinating TSN programs at your sites, so many more traumatic injury survivors and their families have access to support and connection!

To help me provide the best support possible and learn more about your programs, please complete this brief survey.

I can't wait to work with all of you!

SEEKING SURVIVORS

Below are research requests you can share with your survivors.

Teammates in Recovery

Teammates in Recovery is a campaign that aims to connect trauma survivors and the people who care for them with support and resources that underscore the important role mental health play in traumatic injury recovery and empower them to seek the care they need.

For the next phase of the campaign, the team is seeking patients to feature on their website to discuss their recovery journey and engage in dialogue about mental health support as a key part of physical recovery.

Please share this opportunity with the survivors at your center!

I am working on a study about the course of holistic recovery for people who have been injured.

I am looking for individuals between ages 18 and 65, who were injured within the last 5 years, to participate by completing a survey.

Those who complete the survey will receive a $50 Amazon e-gift card in appreciation of their time!

Sleep Events Following an Accident Study

Dr. Parkes is in search of traumatic injury survivors who have subsequently experienced vivid dream-like phenomena just as they are falling asleep or just as you are waking up.

Dr. Parkes survived a 20ft fall from height and was required to sleep completely flat and without moving for several months, to avoid further damage to her spine and prevent potential paralysis. Years later, Dr. Parkes experienced what are called hypnopompic hallucinations (lifelike sensations while about to wake up).

Survivors who have their own unusual sleep events can e-mail Dr. Parkes.
