TSOC IS LOOKING FOR A NEW TEAM MEMBER!


Travel Southern Oregon Coast (TSOC) is a regional destination marketing and management organization that promotes tourism across Coos, Curry, and Coastal Douglas Counties, focusing on developing exceptional visitor experiences. Its mission is to connect local businesses and attractions with innovative ideas and resources while preserving the environment. The Outdoor Recreation and Sustainability Manager is crucial in advancing these goals by developing sustainability plans, building partnerships, and creating programs to improve outdoor experiences for residents and visitors.


This Manager will collaborate with various stakeholders to shape outdoor recreation strategies and may serve as a project manager, grant writer, and lead implementer of related initiatives. Reporting to the TSOC Executive Director, the Manager will work closely with staff, local agencies, and organizations to support the vision of sustainable tourism and destination development for the Southern Oregon Coast.

THE CITY OF NORTH BEND AWARDED A T-MOBILE GRANT TO LAUNCH NEW COMMUNITY HUB


Before ringing in the new year, the City of North Bend received exciting news that promises significant updates for early 2025. Since 2021, T-Mobile has invested $15 million in rural development nationwide, and North Bend is proud to be one of just 25 communities selected to receive a grant this quarter. This prestigious $50,000 award will help launch a new community hub, bringing exciting opportunities to the area.


This award will enable the City of North Bend to create a vibrant community space that will feature live performances by local artists, a public gathering space, art installations, and much more, all within one accessible hub. With construction slated to begin in early 2025, the community can look forward to exciting updates and announcements as preparations for this new space move forward.

SOUTHWESTERN OREGON COMMUNITY COLLEGE AWARDED FEDERAL GRANT TO EXPAND WORKFORCE TRAINING PROGRAMS


Southwestern Oregon Community College is expanding its workforce training programs following a prestigious $1.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor. This funding will help address the growing demand for skilled workers by enhancing partnerships with local businesses to provide training in the Transportation and Manufacturing sectors.


As the workforce training programs grow, the college remains committed to its mission of offering equitable educational opportunities. The grant will ensure that students from diverse backgrounds, including those from rural areas, Hispanic individuals, women, and veterans—have equal access to training in these high-demand fields.
