The Effect of Drugs in a DUI-D Case:

CNS Stimulants, Part 2 - The Toxicologist

This session is part of a multi-session and multi-disciplinary series that will provide prosecutors, law enforcement officers and toxicologists a background to Drug DUI Cases. This series is intended to provide a background to the DRE Program and the many different drug categories that one may encounter in a Drug DUI Case. These sessions are designed to provide extensive background as to the common observable signs and effects of each drug category to allow for better investigation and prosecution of Drug DUI Cases. To better achieve this goal, this series is multi-disciplinary in that each DRE Drug Category will first be explained from the DRE Law Enforcement perspective, and then the following week from the Toxicologist perspective. In such a way, prosecutors, law enforcement officers and toxicologists will all get an idea as to how each discipline is able to present evidence and testimony in a Drug DUI Case. Sessions will go into details about effects, duration, ingestion, and other information about each individual category from both a Law Enforcement and a Toxicology perspective so that such categories can be better documented by law enforcement and be better explained to a jury by prosecutors, law enforcement officers and toxicologists. By the end of this series, prosecutors, law enforcement officers and toxicologists should be able to better handle the many difficult aspects of Drug DUI cases and understand the complimentary roles of DREs and Toxicologists. This specific session will focus on CNS Stimulants from the Toxicologist perspective.

**Note, this series is NOT a substitute for either the formal ARIDE or DRE Training and it will NOT allow law enforcement officers to testify as Expert Witnesses regarding any of the Drug Categories discussed or to make any specific conclusions as to Drug Category**

This session is designed for Prosecutors, Agency Legal Advisors and any LEO or Toxicologist that deals with DUI/Traffic Enforcement.

Please share with whoever you feel appropriate, and remember that this session will be recorded if you are unable to attend at the live session, just please make sure to register to receive a link to the recording.
