The Movie “Wonder” & the Winter Holidays

Happy Hanukkah!

Our winter break is almost here, and I recommend to the movie “Wonder” as one of the activities that can inspire our families during this holiday time.

Based on the popular book, this movie is about a 5 th  grade student, named Auggie, who was born with severe facial deformities. By age ten, he has had 27 surgeries, yet still looks very different than most kids.

Both a movie about Auggie’s resilience as he mainstreams into public school after spending time being home-schooled by his determined mother, it is also a story about other kids’ ability to accept difference.

THE WEEK IN REVIEW

RELIGIOUS SCHOOL
This past Monday was a great day at Religious School! Our day began with latkes and jelly donuts for snack and parent visits in classrooms where the students played Hanukkah games, trivia, and made crafts. During the second hour, the students made Hanukkah snow globes, created holiday cards for the brave firefighters in Ventura County, and listened to Hanukkah stories with the Rabbi. We look forward to welcoming everyone back after Winter Break…school resumes on  Monday, January 8th ! Happy Hanukkah and Happy New Year!
