It happens in silence, in darkness, at the bottom of the ocean. After eons of pressure increasing bit by bit, there finally comes a moment when the pressure is too much. Something snaps – a tectonic plate lurches – and causes a massive underwater landslide. This pushes the ocean toward the sky, and unleashes a tsunami.
We already have all the conditions we need for a Blue Tsunami in the ‘22 midterms.
The pressure on women whose reproductive rights are under attack.
The pressure of racial injustice on people of color.
The pressure of wealth inequality on those struggling to join the middle class.
The pressure of the climate crisis on the young people it will affect the most.
The pressure on all of us by the Republican attack on our freedom to vote.
We are activists – we are empaths – we are people who take the world personally.
We feel all these pressures acutely. And we’ve watched Republicans do everything they can to increase these pressures.
For each of us, the final trigger was different. For some, it was the Insurrection. For others, the Texas abortion ban, or the sham election review in Arizona, or the Georgia attack on voting rights, or the anti-vaxx mandates in Florida, or the Republicans’ celebration of the Kyle Rittenhouse acquittal.
But we are all here because, at some point, in the depths of our oceans, the pressure hit the breaking point, and there was a landslide. And without words, in the churning magma of our hearts, we vowed to keep fighting cruelty and hatred and tyranny, as hard as we can, as well as we can, for as long as we can.
Together, surging our efforts, we will bring a Blue Tsunami to the ‘22 midterms – save the Senate – save the House – and save our democracy.
The first step is to kick off 2022 with a show of strength! On January 6, Field Team 6 – as part of the National Voter Registration Round Table – is holding voter drives all over the country. Join us in Wisconsin or Pennsylvania or California's 25th or 8th district. Or join me in Orange County, CA, where I’ll be co-leading a voter drive with our Super Organizer Ashley Craig. (RSVP below!) NATIONAL VOTER REGISTRATION DAY OF ACTION — TAKE BACK 1/6!
Recently we told you about the National Voter Registration Roundtable, a new group co-founded by our own Director of Operations Wayne Liebman and fellow Super-Organizers Emi Guereca and Will Baum!
The Roundtable brings together national on-the-ground voter registration orgs like Field Team 6, Women’s March Action, Activate America, Center for Common Ground, Sister District, They See Blue, Register Her, Southwest Voter Project, The Civics Center, and many others to eliminate duplicate effort, boost firepower, stretch dollars, fire up volunteers, and register new voters year round.
One of its first projects is turning National Voter Registration Day from a yearly into a monthly event. And the first one is January 6, 2022. When the country's memory turns to the Insurrection, we will offer something concrete you can do about it: defend our democracy by registering new Democrats!
We are secretly in competition with our sister orgs and we want to put up more registration events than any of 'em. Here's a few on the books already! And we're counting on you to add more!

Get ready to BYOP – Bring Your Own Phone (*plan)! We're bootcamping this very evening... Thursday, December 16 at 4p PT. We’ll train you how to text from your computer, using your data plan. Once trained, you can do this on your own time, whenever you like!

This is no-frills textbanking, so if you’re at all tech-challenged, you may be excused. If you have an ActionID and software to text from your computer, you're ready. RSVP!

Last week we hit 31 million impressions on Twitter alone! That is not a typo! 31m!
Every Wednesday we jump onto the web to raise awareness for Field Team 6's efforts to register Democrats and save the world.
Our next efforts will be around the must-pass #BuildBackBetter act, reforming the Senate rules around the filibuster to protect voting rights, pushing positive "Thank Democrats" messaging, as well as supporting our in-person voter drive trainings, phone banks, text banks and postcarding programs!

STAFF SHOUT-OUT: Cory Alpert |
|
This week we’re mixing it up and shouting out a Field Team 6 staffer for a change. Cory Alpert is our Chief Strategist, which means he works closely with Jason to figure out what we should do next, and how best to do it, to you know... save the world.
He is masterful when it comes to data, and is responsible for acquiring, managing, and figuring out how to best reach out to our unique database of 12.5 million unregistered likely Democrats in swing states – that's what we use in all of our digital registration programs: postcarding, phonebanking, textbanking, emails, targeted ads, and our canvassing pilot program.
Cory is also a genius at digital fundraising (a critical part of keeping the FT6 lights on!), and he's currently beta-testing a program to ramp up engagement for both donors and volunteers that's still a secret – but has the acronym RFD.
He started with FT6 mid-2020 as our Finance Director, “which lasted for about three weeks before I got a new title and someone more qualified got that title.”
Cory properly got into politics in 2015, when he ran the coordinated disaster relief efforts in response to Hurricane Joaquin in South Carolina, his home state.
He has a wealth of experience working for a range of impressive politicians, including Pete Buttigieg's presidential campaign, Andrew Gillum's campaign for governor (FL), and for the White House as Advance Lead for Doug Emhoff, Second Gentleman of the United States.
He's no stranger to rolling with anything that comes along. For example, he had to shut down the Albuquerque airport because he needed to get a VIP out. So he had the FAA declare a no-fly zone, and rolled a 25-car motorcade onto the tarmac, but the plane was late. “I had to just wait for 15 minutes. Then once my VIP was on the plane, I had to stand at the end of the jet bridge with the security team, but people thought I worked for the airline, so they handed me their bags.”
Cory’s childhood influenced his desire to get into politics. “I saw school systems (and a lot of other systems) failing people, and I realized somewhere along the way that the government matters, and it makes a big difference in people’s lives.”
Now he’s really passionate about the color navy blue and voting rights (not in that order). Although he doesn’t have kids, “I’m basically a kid myself. And I’m always thinking about how to improve youth voter engagement,” which is one of the keys to winning future elections.
Cory, we’re honored to have you on the Field Team 6 staff, and salute your vision, dedication and team spirit. Thank you for everything you did to fuel our wins in 2020 and 2021! And onward to victory in 2022!

Texas is the next major battleground state, and we have a shot to win statewide. We're doing everything in our power to make that happen and one of our most powerful tools is these awesome training videos cut together by super volunteer Jeff Sielaff as part of each battleground state's Voter Drive in a Box.
They're fun, they're quick, and they teach you exactly how to register Democrats using either a paper form or Voterizer.org on a smartphone or tablet.
