TTC monthly news & updates
President's Message
Swim – Bike – Run – Community – Fun, that is our tagline and a succinct way to state our mission. Yes, we have an amazing array of activities under way at this point in the season, but, what is heartwarming is seeing the  Community part come together. Some of last year’s Beginner Program “graduates” are taking on leadership roles in the club, leading the “C” groups rides and providing mentorship to some of our new members just taking up the sport.

We have more racing, community, and fun coming with a big group of club members racing the Crystal Coast Half and Full Iron distance in May. We will also have a big community presence at the Triangle Triathlon with many of our members racing, TTC will supply the bulk of the volunteers, which will help raise funds for the YMCA scholarship fund. We will also have some fun after the Triangle Triathlon at our post-race cookout. I hope you can join us for these activities.

Volunteers are what makes our activities and races happen.

If you are racing a full or half IRONMAN this year or need help with shorter distances outside of the Beginner Program, please give me a call or send me a note.
Learn more at www.t3tricoaching.com . I look forward to seeing you out training and crossing the finish line.

Happy May TTC members!

We are preparing to host the 2019 Bull City Squat Challenge to be held on Saturday May 18, 2019 beginning at 11am. I will be participating to raise money for the Duke Cancer Institute, and would love your support!

About The Duke Cancer Institute
Established in 1973 as one of the original eight comprehensive cancer centers designated by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the patients come for care from every county in North Carolina, every state in the nation and from around the world. DCI has organized their flagship cancer center to assemble each patient’s entire clinical team and treatment resources in a single building. Duke Cancer Institute integrates patient care, research and education.

The Duke Cancer Institute has more than 300 researchers and physicians from 27 departments and seven schools at Duke University. At any one time, Duke Cancer Institute offers enrollment in more than 1,000 cancer-related clinical studies. Duke Cancer Institute, with its six locations, treats almost 70,000 cancer patients yearly.

When I opened The Choice Performance Center in 2015, my goal then as now, is to be a community leader and resource. The Bull City Squat Challenge, in its 4 th year, it is our annual signature event to support our local community. Cancer has touched the lives of so many people, including myself and several of our members. This is an opportunity to support a very important and worthwhile cause.

To support DCI and the 2019 Bull City Squat Challenge, you can visit https://www.strongerandfasterdurham.com/bull-city-squat-challenge or you can drop off cash/check at the studio. Please make checks out to Duke Cancer Institute. 100% of all donations will benefit the DCI and all donations are tax deductible. DCI and The Choice Performance Center will launch a special event site www.bullcitysquatchallenge.org on Wednesday May 1 where you can donate directly to DCI. All donations of $35 or greater will receive a limited edition 2019 Bull City Squat Challenge tee shirt. (while supplies last).
We appreciate your support.

I’d like to be your mortgage coach
One of the things I love about my work as a mortgage lender is the flexibility with my schedule.  Since I’m often working for my clients at night and on weekends, it is acceptable when I need to take time out of my work day to train.  It was a shock the first time a text message popped up on my bike computer, from a client who needed a preapproval letter.  I had no idea my Garmin linked to my phone - but that text message was motivation to ride harder to get home from that long Sunday bike ride and write that letter!

As a triathlete, you may have a coach guiding your training for a goal race.  I’d like to propose that you think of me as your mortgage coach.  Everything we talk about will always be 100% confidential.  I’ve worked with many local triathletes, but you’ll never hear me mention a name.

My favorite part of this career is coaching my clients through this process and solving what may seem like a challenging issue so they can become a homeowner, particularly if they thought they couldn’t before. For example, A TTC member recently asked how to qualify to buy a home as soon as possible, due to a pending divorce.  This is a sensitive topic, and mortgage financing can be tricky.  But I was able to offer ideas and provide guidance, so they knew what was going to be required, understood the necessary timeline, and we created a plan to make this happen.

There is no fee for my services until I close a loan for you, and those closing costs will be the same whether I preapproved you yesterday or we’ve been working together for months.  I love puzzles, and I see every mortgage scenario as a puzzle, with the solution being the right mortgage for my client.  I’ve worked with thousands of clients since 2005, and I’d be thrilled to have a chance to work with you, or simply give you some guidance gleaned from my extensive experience. Oh, and BTW First person to read this and call me gets one of my new “no whining, just mortgages” corkscrews.)
