Originally created by dance artist/activist Lela Aisha Jones during the pandemic, the Revival Walks brought healing, solace, and joy to participants, as facilitators lifted up Afro-centric practices in order to rebalance our relationship with the natural world. Participants remove trash along the way as an act of reciprocity to nature. Originalmente creado por la artista de danza/activista Lela Aisha Jones durante la pandemia, Revival Walks trajo curación, consuelo y alegría a los participantes, ya que los facilitadores elevaron las prácticas afrocéntricas para reequilibrar nuestra relación con el mundo natural. Depending on how calm or wild the creek is that day, we will either explore the physical and chemical characteristics of the Tookany Creek or collect and evaluate the organisms that live in the water. These can show us the general health of the Creek. You must wear boots, old sneakers, or water shoes if you want to go into the Creek. Or you can stand on the bank and participate from there. Dependiendo de qué tan tranquilo o salvaje esté el arroyo ese día, exploraremos las características físicas y químicas del Tookany Creek o recolectaremos y evaluaremos los organismos que viven en el agua. Did you know the creek that flows through the Conklin Pool doesn’t have a name? Visit us and local artist Rebecca Schultz at the Conklin Pool as we gather name suggestions for the restored creek that flows through Conklin. We will select a winner and submit the name to the US Board on Geographic Names in August. Stop by to submit your name suggestions and participate in a few different interactive art activities related to the creek! ¿Sabías que el arroyo que fluye a través de Conklin Pool no tiene nombre?
