Envisioning
Your New Game of Life
November Monthly Meeting
|
"Play is the answer to how anything new comes about." Jean Piaget
What keeps you from living the retirement of your dreams? For women, it's often duty. We've worked so hard to be the responsible wife, mother, daughter, and colleague. We're experts on duty! Freedom to be ourselves? Not so much.
For our TTN November Monthly Meeting, join Janet Kodish, founder of My UnRetired Life, as she leads us through the F.R.E.E. Once Again Framework for creating the retirement of your dreams. You'll let your heart lead the way to envisioning a life that is playful, engaged, connected, and 100% you.
When: November 19, 6:00 pm
Where: 50 California 10th Floor San Francisco (one block from the Embarcadero BART, reduced parking rates in Embarcadero Buildings)
After retiring from U.C. Berkeley in 2012, Janet discovered her purpose as a certified Life and Retirement Coach. But first, she had to set herself free from a lifetime of duty to work and family responsibilities. Through small retreats and private coaching, Janet delights in helping women envision the life they've been waiting for, release old guilt that gets in the way, and play their new game of life.

HOLIDAY CELEBRATION AND COOKIE EXCHANGE
December Monthly Meeting
|
What a perfect way to get in to the Holiday spirit!
Bring two dozen of your favorite cookies and the recipe to share. Don't worry, no one will care if your recipe calls for stopping at your local bakery to pick up cookies. We will sample some cookies and will have ziplock bags to carry cookies back home.
This gathering will have plenty of time for getting to know each other and having fun conversations. And of course, plenty of cookies.
When: Monday, December 17, 2018 6:00-7:30
Where: 50 California 10th Floor San Francisco (one block from the Embarcadero BART, reduced parking rates in Embarcadero Buildings)

LETTER OF GRATITUDE
|
Thanks to all TTN sisters and friends who attended the 8th Annual Legacy Film Festival on Aging, presented Sept 14-16 at the New People Cinema in Japantown.
The post-program written evaluations are 95% positive: -Inspiring! -Loved it!. -The world needs this. -Opened my eyes.-Fascinating, Etc! Of course, there were a few naysayers, which we welcome, and these opinions and remarks are just as valid and helpful. We learn from all. Wish the folks who offered negative comments would include their emails so we could talk with them.
If you have anything else you would like to share with us regarding the festival, the films, etc, we would love to hear from you.
Sincerely,
Sheila Malkind and Arlene Reiff

Identifying the Unique Challenges
of Solo Agers
This article, written by
Carol Marak and published in the
Next Avenue newsletter, sites a research project done at the University of Texas that focuses on the unique challenges experienced by seniors who live alone and have little support.
The research intends to develop a stronger understanding of older adults who are aging alone and have limited support within the U.S. We know that elders aging alone are often a hidden population, so academic studies can help bring voice and understanding of the needs and challenges. To read Carol's full article click HERE. If you're interested in the results of the study, click HERE.
