Triad Triathlon Team Newsletter

Group coaching is coming to the TTT! If you've been struggling with your training, are looking for more structure to your workout regimen, and additional motivation to complete your prescribed workout, we hope to be able to provide that in the form of group coaching packages! Details will be out soon and the plan everything in place for the May 2016 Ironman70.3 Chattanooga triathlon!

Speaking of the 2016 season, the TTT 2016 destination races have been selected. All of them are top notch Ironman branded races, two of which are within driveable distance.  These races do not replace our world famous TTT race series which will continue in 2016 as well. The TTT Destination Races are:

1)   Ironman 70.3 Chattanooga - May 22nd          Registration opens: August 11th!

2)   Ironman Canada (Whistler) - July 24th          Registration is open! J

3)   Ironman 70.3 Augusta - Sept 25th                   Registration Opens:  Sept 28th (?)

Please be aware that the Chattanooga and Augusta Races will likely sell out very quickly! Be ready and prepared to sign-up when registration opens. Both those course offer beauty and a downstream swim! The Whistler course is located on the west coast in one of Canada's most famous resorts. The challenging course offers incredible views or the surrounding snow-capped mountains. The resort offers fun for the entire family. This is more than just a race destination! You can ski/snowboard on a glacier, rent mountain bikes at what is widely considered the best downhill mountain bike course on the planet, ride the 2+ mile long peak2peak gondola, go to the beach, enjoy fine dining/shopping, and much more.

Information about the races can be found on the Ironman website. Information about the Whistler resort and surrounding area can be found @

This month's AOM is Alan Turner.  A veteran triathlete and long standing TTT board member, Alan knows how to maintain a healthy life style while training and racing. Click HERE to see a short Q&A about Alan and look for him running local trails as he prepares for his next challenge... the Triple Lakes 40 mile trail run later this fall.

We continue to look for opportunities to provide our members with valuable training.  Here is a quick summary of regular workouts that we have this time of the year. Please note that there are many more workout opportunities on our Facebook site. Also, if you have a regular workout and are looking for some training partners to join you, send an email to and we can add it to the calendar.

Track Tuesday:

5:30 AM @ Greensboro Day School Track: Interval focused running. We provide the workout which typically lasts 45-60 minutes. We all turn in circles, so no one gets dropped and you can modify the workout to suit your fitness level.

5:30 PM @ NC A&T Track: Join Fleet Feet's coach Carl for an intense AND rewarding track workout. Free of charge and lighted track. See Fleet Feet Greensboro's website for additional info.

Friday Swim:

6 AM @ Greensboro Aquatic Center: We'll provide the workout which typically lasts 60 minutes. Focused on drills to help improve your technique. All level's and abilities welcome.

As with all regularly scheduled workouts, consult the TTT Facebook page for any last minute changes.

This is a 30k run organized by Fleet Feet of Greensboro. Sign up as a team of 1, 2, or 4. Proceeds benefit BackPack Beginnings and cost of entry is only $25 and includes entry into a raffle AND an event tech t-shirt.

The run leaves from the Fleet Feet High Point location and ends at the Greensboro Fleet Feet Store. It would be fantastic if we could get a large group (teams) of TTT'ers to compete at the event. See our Facebook post about the event to try to find relay partners.

Visit the Fleet Feet Greensboro Website to register and get more info.

This year's edition of the B2B is Saturday October 17th in Wilmington, NC. The TTT has a LARGE contingent of members signed up for either the Half or Full Iron distances. (Currently ~20!). This is the PERFECT race for anyone new to the distance or seeking a PR. The swim course is in the intercostal water way and is known to have a very generous... last year saw a 2.4 mile swim in as little as 33 minutes! The bike course is flat to gently rolling with no significant elevation changes... other than a bridge. The run course is fast and flat. Check them out and join our delegation. This will be a fun event!
