Triad Triathlon Team Newsletter

While many of you have been "enjoying" mid 90 degree days, some of us just got back from the first ever TTT destination race in Mont-Tremblant Canada.  The Ironman 70.3 race was simply amazing. 7 TTT'ers and their families made the trip to Mont-Tremblant to race on the same course as the 2014 World Championships. Being on the site of ski resort, the course and venue were simply spectacular with beautiful sun and temperatures in the high 70's to low 80's.  In addition to racing, we enjoyed amazing foods, zip lining, indoor karting, luge, gondola rides and much more. Check out our Facebook page for the photo album!

This month's AOM is Simon Cloutier. Having just completed the Mont-Tremblant 70.3, you'll find Simon out and about training most early mornings and weekends. Already involved in the local triathlon scene (as your president), Simon loves triathlon and endurance sports.  Click HERE to see a short Q&A about Simon and look for him  to be swimming, biking, or running around town as he prepares for the Beach to Battleship Iron Distance Race in October.

With so many of our members busy with family vacation, day camps and swim teams, we will not have a monthly meeting this month. We will resume with a spectacular meeting on Friday August 14th

We continue to look for opportunities to provide our members with valuable training.  Here is a quick summary of regular workouts that we have this time of the year. Please note that there are many more workout opportunities on our Facebook site. Also, if you have a regular workout and are looking for some training partners to join you, send an email to and we can add it to the calendar.

Track Tuesday:

5:30 AM @ Greensboro Day School Track: Interval focused running. We provide the workout which typically lasts 45-60 minutes. We all turn in circles, so no one gets dropped and you can modify the workout to suit your fitness level.

5:30 PM @ NC A&T Track: Join Fleet Feet's coach Carl for an intense AND rewarding track workout. Free of charge and lighted track. See Fleet Feet Greensboro's website for additional info.

Friday Swim:

6 AM @ Greensboro Aquatic Center: We'll provide the workout which typically lasts 60 minutes. Focused on drills to help improve your technique. All level's and abilities welcome.

As with all regularly scheduled workouts, consult the TTT Facebook page for any last minute changes.

This is a 30k run organized by Fleet Feet of Greensboro. Sign up as a team of 1, 2, or 4. Proceeds benefit BackPack Beginnings and cost of entry is only $25 and includes entry into a raffle AND an event tech t-shirt.

The run leaves from the Fleet Feet High Point location and ends at the Greensboro Fleet Feet Store. It would be fantastic if we could get a large group (teams) of TTT'ers to compete at the event. See our Facebook post about the event to try to find relay partners.

Visit the Fleet Feet Greensboro Website to register and get more info.

This year's edition of the B2B is Saturday October 17th in Wilmington, NC. The TTT has a LARGE contingent of members signed up for either the Half or Full Iron distances. (Currently ~20!). This is the PERFECT race for anyone new to the distance or seeking a PR. The swim course is in the intercostal water way and is known to have a very generous... last year saw a 2.4 mile swim in as little as 33 minutes! The bike course is flat to gently rolling with no significant elevation changes... other than a bridge. The run course is fast and flat. Check them out and join our delegation. This will be a fun event!

I'm sure you've started to see our awesome TTT race kits in action. They really are the best race kits available... stylish AND functional. As a result, we've had a significant increase in requests to purchase them. We provide team kits at cost and have a minimum order quantity of 10 articles (a full kit includes shorts and top: counts as 2 articles.) The online store will be opened very soon closing on July 16th for an end of August delivery. This will allow people who order plenty of time to get them in time for their fall races. We will send out a newflash once the store is open.

We aren't even close to the end of 2015 and already are talking about 2016... that's just the crazy world of Ironman racing ;-)

We are in the planning phase for the next great TTT destination race and would like to include both a 70.3 and a 140.6 distance race. We'd like to get your feedback on race venues for both distances. Current top contenders are Chattanooga 70.3 (May 22nd, 2016) and Ironman Canada (End of July, 2016). If you have genuine interest in competing in one or both destination races, please feel free to email with feedback, suggestions, or questions.
