We pray that this newsletter and its contents that we share will help you on your daily journey with Christ, causing you to grow in the ways of the Lord.

The giftings of the fivefold ministry (Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor, Teacher) should have one purpose, and that is the teaching and equipping of the saints until we come into unity. This is why we teach so that you can grow stronger in your faith until unity comes in the body of Christ.

Take what you have learned and share it with others so that we can further the kingdom for Jesus Christ!

THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES PART 4

SUKKOT PART 4

THE FOUR SPICES

_____________________

Yesterday we learned that during The Feast of Tabernacles that today observant Jews construct their sukkots (booths) with the branches of four particular trees. These tree branches come from the citron, palm, myrtle, and willow and are called the “four spices.” A special prayer of blessing is spoken over each branch.

The citron (not like the citron melon) is called the “Etrog.” Its fruit has a very sweet taste and a delightful aroma. The sweetness represents the knowledge of the Word of God within us written upon our hearts. The delightful aroma represents the good deeds and good works which are the fruits produced from our outworking faith upon the Word of God. It is the mark of the mature believer.

The palm branch is called the “Lulav” and is from the date palm. Dates have a sweet taste but have no aroma or fragrance. The taste represents those who have a knowledge of God’s Word, but the lack of fragrance means they lack the good works that come from true faith upon the Word of God. James 2:20 reflects this as it says, “Faith without works is dead.” Dead faith is not faith at all, so this date palm branch represents those who have a head knowledge of God (mental assent) but lack the heart knowledge of true faith. They deceive themselves by thinking they belong to God (Christ) but Hebrews 11:6 says, “without faith it is impossible to please (God).” They are lost.

The myrtle is called the “Hadas.” It is the exact opposite of the lulav (date palm). It has fragrance but it has no taste. The fragrance means they have good works, but lack of taste means they have little or no knowledge of God or of His Word. They “look good and smell good” on the outside, but they lack the Word of God on the inside. In the church they are what we call “hypocrites.”

The fourth spice branch is called the “Arava” which is the youngest (newest) of the willow branches before it fully opens. It has neither taste nor fragrance. This represents the unbeliever who has neither the Word of God in him nor the faith in God that produces good works. It represents the unrepentant sinner.

During the Feast of Tabernacles prayers are said over all four branches. This shows that we should pray over all four categories of people that they represent. Our prayers for people in any station of life are heard and received in heaven. God honors our prayers, howbeit in His own time.

Pray for all souls, both those you like and those you dislike.

FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD

______________________________

We read in Ephesians 2:8, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.”

James 2:17 says, “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, ‘Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.”

We might think these two scriptures are a contradiction, but they aren’t. We cannot receive salvation by doing anything on our own. We receive salvation by faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. We cannot earn salvation. We cannot receive it by how good or bad we are. It is a gift from God received by faith. Good works follow salvation.

Ephesians 2:9 continues the story. It says, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

As a Christian, we do good works because we have already received salvation. To know that we have escaped a fiery hell for eternity is enough to make anyone want to do what is right and good. We do not do good works to “stay saved” because Jesus has given us “eternal” life. Salvation is a one-time experience that lasts forever but works follow salvation.

We are recreated to do that which is right. It is our responsibility “after” salvation to do the things that God would have us to do. As we read the scriptures, it becomes our lamp into the darkness guiding us by God as to what we should do.

Anyone that claims to have received salvation and never does anything for God is fooling themselves. Ephesians 2:10 states that we are his workmanship which means he is working in and through us to become more like him.

If you have never shared what God has done for you, repent. Now is the time to start doing what is a work for God. James 1:22 tells us, “…be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own self.”

God guides us by his Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit speaks to us through God’s word. It is not a suggestion to do good works, it is a command. Faith without works [action] is dead. Don’t be empty handed when you stand before God and are rewarded for what you have done with your life.

PROPHETIC EXHORTATION

Never take for granted that you will have tomorrow. Live today as if it is your last! Love unconditionally. Forgive quickly. Spend time with the Lord in the secret place. Share your light with those in darkness. The Lord said the last days would be like the days of Noah. No one expected a flood until it came and it was too late. Don't put things off my friends. There is no better day than today to do what you need to do. No one is promised tomorrow

APOSTLE PAT MURRAY

PROPHETIC EXHORTATION

Just know the sooner you get completely over what someone has done TO you; The sooner you can move on and receive what God wants to do FOR you…And THROUGH you. Just never allow that hurt you’ve been holding to ever to get in the way of you doing what God has for you. Oh, you know full well how the enemy and his helpers have just been waiting to find a way to stop you; And to keep you from going where they know you’re supposed to be. Now if you continue to let that hurt get to you then it will really do you. Yes, and then it could and it would end up totally stopping you from receiving everything God wants to do with you; And from taking you to the place of purpose He has long since planned out for you. So refuse to give anyone or anything that kind of hold and control over your entire life. Now you get up, get out and get over it; For a bright sunny and happy future awaits you.

Tuesday Thought For Today

There are many wonderful stories in the Bible. It is our history and it is important to know what the Bible says.

Did you know that Isaiah foretold the birth of Jesus?

“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel. Curds and honey He shall eat, that He may know to refuse the evil and choose the good.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭7‬:‭14‬-‭15‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

And

“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭9‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

There are other scriptures in the Old Testament that talk about Jesus. Here are just a couple.

“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting.” Therefore He shall give them up, Until the time that she who is in labor has given birth; Then the remnant of His brethren Shall return to the children of Israel. And He shall stand and feed His flock In the strength of the Lord, In the majesty of the name of the Lord His God; And they shall abide, For now He shall be great To the ends of the earth; And this One shall be peace.….”

‭‭Micah‬ ‭5‬:‭2‬-‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch shall grow out of his roots. The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. His delight is in the fear of the Lord, And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, Nor decide by the hearing of His ears; But with righteousness He shall judge the poor, And decide with equity for the meek of the earth; He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, And with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked. Righteousness shall be the belt of His loins, And faithfulness the belt of His waist.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭11‬:‭1‬-‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

 The Bridge HCC

There’s a bridge from heartache to smiles.

A bridge of hope, as you hold the hand of God.

You read His word, and you know He walks with you.

As you face your trials in life,

That’s what this life does do.

When you have Christ, He is not just a friend.

He is your Savior, who will be with you in the end.

You’ll see his face and will make all things new.

Yes, this is your Savior, the one who died for you.

             When your heart is broken,

As you cross the bridge of life.

             Remember to smile and say,

I have the Lord, who changed my life.
