Happy Summer from Youth News!
Congratulations on another school year finished, we hope you have a fun, relaxing, well deserved break!

We are so excited to have Val and Karoline join the Youth team at TVCC, and know they are going to have a wonderful time with all the events they and Madison are planning for the summer!

What's Happening?
What are your plans for the summer? Do you feel like being active? Creative? How about hanging out with new friends? Making a difference and raising awareness? Youth For Youth has you covered! Check out their calendar of events for July and August and save the dates for the events that appeal to you!

Youth For Youth
Fun Independence Bootcamp

.Join Youth For Youth this summer to have fun and learn (or practice) some skills!
Monday - Getting to know yourself Tuesday- Budgeting, shopping, (taking the bus) and cooking
Wednesday - Healthy relationships and internet etiquette
Thursday - Jobs, volunteer opportunities housing, life skills and life-long learning Friday - Celebration of accomplishments and trip to Montana’s Restaurant and Fleetway.

Growing Up - What are doing to get Ready?!
Think of all the skills you have learned up until now that give you more independence, what is next? What is important to you to focus on? Check out the following resources to start the conversation with your family about what is important to you, what skills you are proud of, and what you would like to improve or start learning how to do...

Holland Bloorview in Toronto created a series of booklets that look at a range of skills that get more complex as you progress. The series is called Growing Up Ready, and the three booklets are called Getting Started, On My Way, and Almost There.
