TWENTY20 s et to conquer Mont Ventoux & the Champs-Élysées
Dygert Sprints to 2nd place on Stage 3
BOISE, ID - July 17 2020. The top 17 women’s teams from around the world took to the roads in France last weekend for Stages 3 and 4 of the first ever virtual edition of the race. Both stages featured brand new Zwift courses designed especially for the race. This weekend they’re set to conquer Mont Ventoux on Saturday’s Stage 5, and will ride into Paris on the Champs-Élysées for Sunday’s Stage 6.

You can watch Stages 5 & 6 Live - see links below.

STAGE 3 JULY 11th // FLAT
WORLD: France ROUTE: R.G.V. LAP
DISTANCE: 24km (14.9 miles)
ELEVATION GAIN PER LAP: 133m (436 ft) LAPS: 2
TOTAL DISTANCE: 48km (29.8 miles)

Stage 3 was mainly flat with a short climb to be completed twice. As a team we thought it would come down to a bunch sprint but we were also aware that splits happen regularly on Zwift and we needed to stay alert and well positioned. The splits did happen but we were well prepared and had all four of our riders in the front group of 30 contesting the win.

Chloé executed a powerful sprint to take 2nd place with Georgia close behind in 9th, Shayna in 16th, and Jasmin 27th. This placed TWENTY20 3rd on the day and 4th overall.

“The Zwift Tour de France Stage 3 was a super exciting race debuting the new France R.G.V. route. With the course being mostly flat containing a few rollers and one short KOM, it made for some very fast and fun racing. I really liked the route because I'm more of a flat terrain and punchy hill-type rider and I feel that's exactly what this course threw at us. "Said Shayna Powless. "During the race, most of the riders stayed together until we reached the first sprint segment, which is where the field started to string out. Then more splits happened on the following QOM and sprint segment. On the final lap it came down to about 20-25 riders and a bunch sprint for the finish line. I managed to find good positioning in the group going into the last turn but started my sprint with my power up just a tad too late, dropping back a little and crossing the line in 16th. As a team, we were able to score solid points and place 3rd for the stage. Overall it was a great day for TWENTY20 and I can't wait to see what we accomplish next weekend during the final two stages!”
Stage 4 kept the same rolling nature to Stage 3 but included a second climb, and this one was much tougher and longer at 2.7km with the stinger being that the top of this climb was only a couple kilometers from the finish.

STAGE 4 JULY 12th // HILLY
WORLD: France ROUTE: Casse-Pattes
LAP DISTANCE: 22.9km (14.3 miles)
ELEVATION GAIN PER LAP: 155m (508 ft) LAPS: 2 TOTAL
DISTANCE: 45.8km (28.6 miles)

The bunch split on the faster rolling roads and again all four of our riders were in the front group. The first time up the main climb saw a brutal pace with Courtney making the front group of only 6 riders. Chloe and Lea made contact shortly after leaving our team with three riders in a select group of 17 and Jen making it into the chase group.

The final time up the climb saw many attacks with Chloé making her way into the front group to contest the victory. Unfortunately she didn’t have a power-up to deploy before the finish but 5th place was a strong result with all three of the other TWENTY20 ladies scoring points for top 25 finishes.

“All things considered, I believe we had a solid weekend of racing. We were very close to a stage win and we have maintained our 4th place overall. A top 3 overall in Paris is still a realistic target and we’ve got our eyes set on it.” Said D.S dan Fleeman, “ With two stages left it’s all still to play for.”

“Stage 4 of the Zwift Tour de France was an exciting and tactical one. In fact, it’s the most tactical and realistic Zwift race I’ve been a part of. It was two laps punctuated with two climbs, and the most decisive moment of the race came at the top of the second climb 2 km away from the finish. It took teamwork and it was fun to be part of a team effort (this is unique to a mountain biker like myself!). Lap 1, I found myself in the chase group with Chloe while Courtney was in the lead group. Courtney tried to slow the pace down while Chloe and I worked together to bridge back up. We did and team Twenty20 had the numbers in the lead group going into the decisive final lap. I was two switchbacks away from making it over the top of the climb with the lead group (so close!) and sprinted with the chase group to 15th place.

It’s an honor and such a great opportunity to race in the TDF and I appreciate Zwift for pushing for equality in the sport. Let’s hope this leads to an equal women’s TDF in real life because it’s been truly amazing. “ Lea Davison

WHAT IS PR LOTION?
The first and only lotion that gives bicarb to your working muscles.
PR Lotion combines bicarb with our patented absorption technology to send bicarb where you need it most–your muscles.

Bicarb helps you do more of what you love and come back strong the next day by neutralizing acid in your muscles. PR Lotion is a revolutionary yet simple way to give your body more of what it needs when you train hard.

WHY BICARB?
Bicarb neutralizes acid created by your muscles as a by-product when you work at your limit. When you hold your max for too long, acid builds up, causing your muscles to burn and disrupting muscle contraction.

Our bodies naturally produce bicarb, which is high pH, to neutralize acidity in a common acid-base reaction. PR Lotion gives your body more bicarb to clear more acid, giving you the ability to push yourself harder for longer.

HOW DOES IT HELP ME RECOVER?
Bicarb reduces chemical stress in your muscles which helps prevent soreness.
Alkalinization prevents one of multiple causes of delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). Intense exercise produces free radicals that cause muscle damage and inflammation which leads to soreness. Alkalinization with bicarb reduces free radical release, thus reducing muscle soreness in the days after intense efforts.
