Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Last month, we put out our first end of year appeal. It was to match the Board contributions of $6,000, and you did it! We are still a few dollars short, but we certainly have enough to get started on the website redo and the planning of our next in person (inter) national conference.

As you read on, you'll see the value of TWSBA- from the conference, to the next program call, getting information through our revised website, jobs and Federal funding opportunities.

Your support makes this happen. Again, thank you!
The Next (Inter) National TWSBA Conference!
Save the Date:
November 3-5, 2022.
(Thursday through Saturday)
Port Townsend, Washington. At the Northwest Maritime Center.

Planning is well underway!
The theme for the conference will be, “Old Tools, New Tools; Re|Connecting Community in a Changing World”.

We’re looking for both proposals for presentations and desired topics. If you have a project or program about which you’d like to present, let us know. The same goes for topics about which you’d like to learn more. Just email us at [email protected]
Winter Program Call
Tuesday, February 22nd, 12 Eastern Time
These calls just keep getting better and better. After our last call with three presenters, we got feedback that we weren’t giving each presenter enough time. So this time, we’d like to have two presenters in the hour and do a slightly deeper dive. Please let us know if you’d like to present- or if there’s someone you think should!

We'll be sending out the link closer to the date.
Website Update
The Redesign is Underway
One of the main features of the new website is easier access and better searching for materials that have been presented through TWSBA conferences, and lately, Program Calls.

Most of this information will only be available to members- but membership is free! It’s another reason to sign up- along with helping us do our job better and serve you better. (So, please take the 1 minute and 22 seconds it usually takes to sign up.)
Membership
We’ve gotten almost 200 members signed up. We know that over 400 folks regularly open our emails. It’s important that you join as a member. It allows us to work more effectively with partnering groups, and it will get you full access to our new better website! Besides, our scientific survey says that it takes only 1 minute and 22 seconds to sign up!
A Really Cool Job!
Spread the word! The public, project based, Maritime High School in Seattle is looking for another amazing educator to join the team!

Maritime High School is seeking an equity driven Mathematics teacher to join the founding teacher team and to support the inaugural class of 9th graders (Class of 2025) beginning now! Maritime High School need a unique context grounded in various fields, including: maritime careers, oceanography, geography, and environmentalism. It sounds like someone from TWSBA!

Here's the application

Federal Funding Opportunity
As we've talked about over the last year, there are current and future Federal funding opportunities out there. The ways the different legislations have been written have put many of the dollars in strange places. The Good Jobs Challenge- Rescue Plan is being run through the Department of Commerce. It is a $500 Million grant program.

These are going to be big grants and application is due in a couple of weeks. Even if you don't apply directly, find out who in your community is applying and partner with them. The grant allows for the regranting of funds, and this is a lot of money.
